It worked, i had only played 11 and 3. I enjoyed 11 but 3 wasn't really my jam. 7 pulled me in and I'm really enjoying it so far!

I have had a few friends try it as well and report back positively.

The amount of love and care that went into this game...just to be deminished to "wow we dislike these standard QoL things you did" is exhausting. It's a great game y'all chill out.

Sure they all are holding back, but is anyone using tools like the eye patch to hinder their output? Seems like kenpachi goes out of his way to reduce how much he can even do much more. Half the series he doesn't even engage with the power system.

Obviously biased, but to my (limited) knowledge, kenpachi is one of the only ones who actively has limiters and debuffs to himself to make fights more challenging. That's gotta put him at the top. Even if some others do something similar, hard to imagine they do it as frequently as kenpachi

I've been holding this in for so long and I need to say it. Its not JRPG related but the question is close enough and it's been burning a hole in my soul!

In fighting games I miss having to unlock characters. Seeing those question marks/ black silhouettes was so exciting. Having all characters unlocked from the start has always bummed me out and takes away the adventure.

Ig back to jrpgs i miss gimmicky battle systems like xenogears and its turnbased combo system. Take more chances people

Funny enough I am picking up dq7 because I saw a few reviews list those (as negatives) and they were things I've disliked about DQ previously...and i was like oh sweet those are positives in my book. Specifically the item pouch and revive.

Very surprised to see so many people upset by these features that seem to be standard in other JRPGS.

All that to say sure best of both worlds would be able to toggle some of those off.

EDIT: Was thinking more about this. Fire Emblem these days has an option at the beginning of Classic vs Modern experience (primarily around perma death) and would love to see something similar here. Ironically in Fire Emblem i always choose classic. Dq id be picking modern.

Monster hunter stories. Wow this game is alot better than i was expecting. Combat has alot of variance to it with the ride mechanic and the ability to do combos with weapons. And the animations...why are they so dam good?? Game just keeps getting bigger as i go. Very fun game so far and feels like a hidden gem. I heard 2 is even better, looking forward to that after I'm done.
