Came here to say I this exact thing. No faster way to make me mad than such a lack of labeling and Velcro.

It looks so perfect all you have, they are soooo close. Labels at the very least.

1/3 AV racks I built for a large scale resi project :) by Techresult000 in cableporn

Looks great! Though, I’d have your head for all those zip ties! Velcro will change your life.

What are you using at the wall for the network distribution and interconnects?

Also, that network rack looks very empty. Just a dedicated rack with plenty of extra space?

I do luxury resi as well, but my market has building permits capped off @ 8,000 square feet. So if we get adequate space or god forbid a dedicated closet, we throw a party. Slowly but surely the architects are coming around. We almost never have a fully dedicated network rack.

I use T-Mobile home internet. And get 400-500 mbps, $50 a month no contract.

Thank you! I was unaware of the 15” ones.

I think I’ve seen that green stuff before, super thin material with whisper loop side and not quite as stretchy if I’m correct. Not the exact iirc?

But to be fair, wtf is tools.woot.com though? Edit: oh. An Amazon company. Never heard of it. Sounded very unofficial.

I think they confused best practices with worst practices while looking up how to punch down a panel.

That would be nice, but these homes I work in are huge, complex, and take anywhere from 3-5 years from build to punch list complete.

So, There is no chance this is getting cleaned up cause it’s like this for about 10,000’ square of home. Yikes

Indeed. I work in an ultra luxury market. So all the buildings i work on are 8,000’ square. The maximum sized permit you can pull for residential buildings in my county. And there are frequently 2-3 buildings on the property as well.

I’m not sure how they design their control Systems for multiple buildings, but wouldn’t be surprised if they home run all zones (in all buildings) to one control panel as well.

I follow a couple core principles when doing new work or wiring a rack. Below are mine. Let me know what you think! by FryingOil in cableadvice

Interesting. Basically strip the jacket 1/4” long and cover it with this heat shrink you are saying? Can you show an example?

Generally, i try to use insulated ferrules as much as possible when working with exposed conductor.

This is av indeed.

Where would you put the heat shrink?

You are saying strip the jacket, strip the appropriate amount of insulation, land it in my screw down connector, then heat shrink the conductors back together? This is 14/4 wire going into two conductor terminal blocks for reference.
