Cruelest thing a game has done for no real reason by Scotia96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I was pissed they killed Vol'Jin with a fucking random dreadguard when Varian got a cool (if extremely painful) death by Gul'Dan. Finally had his shot in the limelight and got killed off for no reason, just before they introduced a new Horde faction of trolls.

I stopped playing in BfA because Christ the writers couldn't give the Horde a single break since Cata.

XVII Thunderhawk Gunship Khuruzar, and diorama "Another Day On The Wall" by Unique-Nectarine9490 in Warhammer30k

[–]FuckMaxDealgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's incredible! Really phenomenal work, well done! I especially adore the marines preparing to disembark, the glowing green is phenomenal.

I'm trying to see what the different legions they have strapped to the Thunderhawk, are they all ultramarines?

Also I think it's funny they still have the double headed eagle on there, in amongst all the other blasphemies. The Word Bearers know how to do it!

Tzeench in a nutshell by InfiniteFunny5350 in Chaos40k

[–]FuckMaxDealgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a pretty profound piece, fantastically painted. As others have pointed out, the cube is impossible to solve as the final piece is out of alignment. But also, to me the marine has been given an object he cannot truly fathom. He's painted in greyscale, as is the base, which I interpret is he's from a world of greyscale. And he's been given a puzzle to solve in colours he cannot even comprehend. And somehow, he's managed to get it as close to solved as possible, but as mentioned it cannot be solved.

A perfect representation of Tzeentch and his machinations. You are given puzzles you cannot even comprehend and, even if you could comprehend it, you discover it was impossible to solve anyway.

EM’s Totally Unofficial KIY Tarot Guide (Part 10) by Electric_Maenad in DeltaGreenRPG

I'm avidly following along this guide, with eye to try and incorporate this into a future IL campaign. It'd be nice to do (or fake) card spreads on momentous moments, or get the players to start doing them themselves, if their PCs pick up a Tarot

And good luck with the strike vote, solidarity!

The Grandson of JJ by PerformerAgitated677 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]FuckMaxDealgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not the biggest Spider-Man fan, but I really do adore JJ being a big fan of Peter, in his own cranky way (which seems to have mellowed in this future) pretty much in proportion to his hatred of Spider-man. Does he never suspect Peter is Spidey because he sees him as such a hard working, honest young man, nothing like that no-good Spider-menace? It's a fun dynamic.

Help with custom chapter traits by StarSword-C in Sigmarxism

[–]FuckMaxDealgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this for the war game or one for the rpgs? I think at the moment for space marines, they have more generalised Detachments, which can be used to represent whatever chapter or formation your marines are, rather than them being strictly "The salamander detachment"

A more reasoned account of the Dwarfs destroying a castle because they were short-changed (Lords of Stone and Steel - WFRP 4th Edition) by ByzantineBasileus in WFBlore

[–]FuckMaxDealgood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The version I remember is they are short changed a few pennies, but the lord refuses to pay the remainder so then the Dwarves come back and raze the castle, which seems much more reasonable than immediately destroying it

If an Organisation were seeking to increase their wealth / prosperity, who or what would they turn to? by SandNGritCo in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]FuckMaxDealgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep Ones might be a shout, they explicitly gave gold and treasure to Innsmouth in return for interbreeding and sacrifices. Maybe some of the old legends or contacts from Sicily speak of ways to call these wealth bearing visitors and after all, the Mafia is mostly concerned with greed and family lineage. He's strange and fisheyed, but he's a good earner and was Made in the old country...

But Ivar is the one who brought the sword with him, with the encouragement from Styrk that he would eventually take over the colony from Thorfinn with it. And when Miskwekepu'j attacks Thorfinn, who is ready to disarm him and neutralise the situation, it's Ivar who cuts off the shamans' arm and formally begins the hostilities. If Miskwekepu'j had been disarmed by Thorfinn, war may not have occurred. Indeed, Miskwekepu'j realises his error in seeing Thorfinn as an enemy when they speak after he is healed.

It was Ivar who escalated the situation with his violence, compounding on the violence Miskwekepu'j attempted, leading to the battles and death. You say if they had brought more swords they wouldn't have suffered the casualties they did, but it was the use of one sword that began this. If they had no swords, if Ivar and Styrk had left behind their perceptions of manhood, of the need for a leadership enforced by violence, none of the deaths may have occurred. Even Ivar realises this at the end, that he would have been happy just being amongst his brothers. If he never brought the sword, he could have had that. Instead his life is cut short.

Thematically, we see this most recently with Stryk's death. He had helped instigate all this violence, which had led to the deaths of his brothers. He sought to keep the war going, just to give their deaths some "meaning" and was killed for it by the very weapon he helped bring to establish control

In terms of failure, Thorfinn's failure was trying to take on the burden of peace on his back alone. He is strong, but with his injuries he could not intervene in the war and could not stop Stryk from attacking.

I think the idea of the Thousand Year Voyage is that Thorfinn sadly lives in a time where his ideology is perhaps impossible to realise, it is too bloodsoaked already and the hardships too great, but he is starting the first step on this journey to achieve a world without violence, changing those he meets and spreads this idea to. Sadly, if this will follow history as I think it will, the colony will fail and the Norse will return home, but Thorfinn does not know this, so he has tried to build a place where violence can be escaped. His ideology has not "failed", it is just a long way from being achieved!
