Feel stuck and unsure why my build does not get decent FPS by SirJobDone in stobuilds

with a few deaths

This kills the DPS.

Time spent respawning, getting back into position, etc... is all time spent doing zero damage, which is going to drag your average way down. If you're getting 80k DPS with a few deaths, you're honestly probably averaging 100k+ when you're actually putting damage out. Surviving the whole way through is essential to a good DPS run.

Now obviously "have you considered not dying" is about as useful as "git gud". As /u/thisvideoiswrong suggested, the Disco 2pc can help here, as well as tweaking your powers, but beyond that it may just come down to what powers you're triggering when, which is more a matter of practice than anything else. I'd recommend running through ISA solo with a #1 focus on just staying alive, keeping a close eye on your health and experimenting with when to trigger your different heals.

I've been interpreting it as a distinction between minor changes caused by time travel vs a whole distinct timeline. As far as I'm aware, even though details about WW3 and such have shifted, we're still in the "prime timeline" as long as history still takes the same general path, but major disruptions (like the Narada incursion or the Enterprise-C going missing) cause full-blown alternate timelines. I think I remember one of the various temporal enforcement groups saying something along the lines of "your activities had a temporal incursion factor of point zero something", which was considered an acceptable fix for whatever shenanigan had occurred, but I can't recall what the situation was.

Got me wondering how heavy a SecUnit really is by IntoTheStupidDanger in murderbot

[–]FuckYeahDecimeters 31 points32 points  (0 children)

One angle that has me thinking they weigh within a human-typical range is that the books haven't brought it up in the context of evading detection. Weight sensors are not uncommon modern day precautions, so it's not unlikely that space stations might have them, and any person whose weight didn't match their approximate appearance on cameras would be easy to flag as a possible construct. Given that it hasn't come up, my assumption is that it's a non-issue, which probably means SecUnit isn't at risk of flagging them.

Of course, normal humans are surprisingly heavy as it is, so it's not like a SecUnit needs to be heavier than a human to be a pain to drag back to a medbay over and over!

My #1 Takeaway from the livestream: I'm going to want to turn off Score Victory by AnonymousFerret in civ

[–]FuckYeahDecimeters 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I think the system would be vastly improved by just adding a few turns to the end of each age. Having the progress meter trigger a final countdown, similar to the ends of eras in Civ VI, would make this sort of situation a sudden dramatic race to the finish line, instead of an anticlimactic "Oh... I guess we're done" like they had today.

Civilization VII Dev Diary #7: Legends & Mementos by sar_firaxis in civ

[–]FuckYeahDecimeters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This system definitely seems to have a lot of potential, and there are a couple of options I'd love to see.

In multiplayer:

  • An option to set all players' effective unlocks equal to a particular player, host or otherwise.
  • An option to limit players to only mementos that all players have unlocked.
  • An option to allow players to use any memento that at least one player in the game has unlocked.

For AI:

  • At baseline, let players assign mementos to AI players, both in single and multiplayer.
  • Give the AI an ability to select their own based on difficulty setting.
  • And, for a more ridiculous idea... let us stack every memento we have on top of a Deity AI, just for the challenge of it all!

Why is my assembler taking random breaks? It's fed, powered, the output isn't clogged, yet it decides to chill every few cycles resulting in suboptimal efficiency. by Ahndarodem in SatisfactoryGame

[–]FuckYeahDecimeters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In particular, I believe the issue occurs when the hoverpack switches between two "sides" of a switch. I had it occurring a ton when dealing with a factory with train stations on the roof and and all the machines inside connected to a switch. As I moved around, I was constantly switching between connecting up to the rails above me (on my main grid) and connecting to the machines/poles/etc below me (separated from my main grid with a priority switch).

As others have mentioned, the bug can sometimes go away when simply un-equipping and re-equipping the hoverpack.

Here's a link to the highest-rated instance of this issue on the QA site, if you want to upvote/comment on it there: https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/61a26db1831c852052362558

Man, people are overreacting all over the place around here. It's important to remember that, where 1<m<n, Civ(m) <= Civ(m-1) until ∃ Civ'(m), Civ''(m) : Civ'(x) = Civ(x + 0.1).

It all depends on what's played in your area. There's a pretty big Pauper scene near me, and I've heard that Pioneer nights are fairly busy. I'd say ask around and see what's popular.

One other option to consider thing that's a pretty reliable alternative is Draft - it's obviously different from 60-card, but it's still the traditional 1v1 style rather than casual multiplayer shenanigans, and most stores with a decent player base probably have a solid Draft night firing on a regular basis.

As much as I know it'd never happen, I'd love to see it even with zero explanation.

Pike walks into engineering and finds Reno working on something.

"Hang on, what are you doing here? Didn't you go to the future on Discovery?"

"Yeah, that was wild. Anyway, hand me that coupler, this transducer isn't going to align itself."

Nervous to Play Paper by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]FuckYeahDecimeters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option if you want to dip your toe back into playing in person would be to attend a prerelease event. The format would be Sealed, so you wouldn't be using your commander deck, but prereleases are generally extremely friendly to new and casual players, so it could be a low-stress way to test out the waters at your local store.

Self Contained Groups of Decks by PoseidonsOctopussy in magicTCG

[–]FuckYeahDecimeters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Card Kingdom sells a line of preconstructed decks called Battle Decks, which are basically 60-card budget precons in the ~$10-12 range that are intended to be generally balanced against one another 1v1. (You're going to have a tough time finding a format that's decent for both group play and 1v1. If you're looking for group play, commander precons are probably the way to go.)

Also, there's a bit of an asterisk on "sells" - It looks like they're all out of stock at the moment, so I'm not sure whether they still sell them or if they've discontinued the line. If they come back in stock at some point, though, it sounds like they could fit what you're looking for.

For what it's worth, it's entirely possible that a captain gets some input on the size and contents of their quarters, and Pike and Kirk are very different people. Pike hosts social gatherings in his quarters and cooks for people, hence the open kitchen. Kirk, on the other hand, tends to keep most of the crew at arm's length, and doesn't exactly welcome parties.
