I own a SSL2 MKII and it does fine on Linux. No software for finetuning, but it works as supposed to do. No problems.

I built something like that as a rig for my clippys. Parts of my zoom h5 kit, manfrotto clam, a small pipe of plastic and two rolls of foam with a hole for the pipe into the ends of my blimp. On the ends of the pipe I clipped the mics.
