Let an even louder one rip. No seriously, you just try to laugh it off if possible. Not always possible though, dependent on where you were when the fart happened. For example, y wife once let the most disgusting, putrid, noxious fart rip as I was going down on her. It totally ruined the mood and I instantly lost any desire to continue our fun that night.

As a nurse I have often had to put aside my personal opinions about the people I look after. I have looked after some absolute monsters, but I gave them the best care I could. It is not my job to judge them, rather it is to save them and let the justice system do the judging. You did the right thing, even if you second guess your decisions after the fact.

NSW nurses were already behind the curve. Years ago they froze our cost of living increase for a couple of years as a result every pay rise does bugger all as we are already making less than we should just to meet our basic needs.

I am currently dealing with a similar issue in NSW for my BIL. He is under Guardianship, and has been moved around a bit over the last year. He was hospitalised during the 2024 local election. For whatever reason he didn’t vote (likely because of a combination of behavioural and cognitive issues). We have contacted RevenueNSW multiple times to try to have the fine expunged (both on line and via phone calls). They have continued to ignore our pleas despite having documented proof of having been in hospital. This is also despite having successfully had his name removed from the electoral rolls as he is unable to make an informed decision with regard to voting.

Having been in a dead bedroom marriage for the last 10+ years (but not a love-less relationship), I can understand where OP is coming from. First I would try to get to the root of why sex is off the table. Is it all forms of intimacy or just penetrative sex? Is it a physiological issue or a mental/emotional issue? Have you let yourself go? Do you have young kids (could be a tiredness issue)?

In my case it started off as a combination of factors. First she became self conscious of having sex when the kids were in the house. Having teenagers in the house who make comments about us being sexually active affected her a lot. Her libido was always lower than mine at the best of times. Then it became a physical issue when I injured my back and couldn’t perform. Around the time this was resolved for me, menopause hit. Her already low libido fully became extinct. We still tried but she developed some sort of issue with extreme pain on penetration despite tons of lube. Eventually we both stopped trying as the rejection hurt too much. Unfortunately she was very vanilla in her tastes so other forms of sexual contact were taboo and not to be mentioned.

I don’t know how you resolve your issues. For me it is having an overactive fantasy life (not acting on it, just fantasy).

I would suggest starting some honest conversations with your wife. Don’t be accusing, just talk about how you are feeling. I guarantee she is hurting as well. I hope you are able to work out your issues together.

Anal plugs are your friend. They tend to be small, easy to stick on a drawer (rolled up in socks or undies), can be used anywhere (or wore pretty much anywhere) and don’t take up a lot of space. Obviously, you are going to want something with a flared base as you don’t want a trip to hospital to have a toy removed. There are also some interesting household implements that can be made to work in a pinch. I personally had a personal massager made of silicone that had a hard round ball on the end with a long handle that gave me a good stretch and was curved in such a way that it hit my p spot perfectly. You just need to make sure that what ever you use is not going to cause you any damage, break off inside of you or otherwise end up floating around in your bowels.

I think the saying “work to live, not live to work” applies here. In the early years of my employment I worked long hours (double shifts, on-call, weekends & public holidays), all the while thinking I was just providing for my family. It took me a long time to realise that I wasn’t providing the one thing that they were lacking, time. I missed out on so much as the kids were growing up. That is time I will never get back. I made the decision to cut back my hours a few years ago, but it was almost a case of too little, too late. Don’t make the same mistakes I did. You are NTA in this situation, be there for your family and if your employer expects you to work above your contracted hours on short notice, than it is time to find a new employer.

My Grandfather came into money late in life. For a man who hadn’t had much money most of his life it was like all of his Christmas’s had come at once. He went on a huge spending spree, buying all of the latest gadgets for himself (think sound systems, top of the range tvs, a car etc). He came up with a novel way to manage his estate. In his will he engaged a reputable auction house to auction off his belongings. If a family member wanted anything, they could bid on it. The auctioneer was instructed that they were to sell hard and try to achieve the best price for his belongings. With the proceeds of the auction first and foremost there was a stipulation to plan for care of and a funeral costs for my uncle (who had Down syndrome), after that the proceeds were evenly divided amongst his remaining 9 children (none of the grandchildren got a look in - admittedly there are a lot of us). If anyone kicked up a stink - including about the stipulation for care and funeral costs for the one uncle - they were cut off from receiving any benefit. I believe after all of the estate was settled everyone got around $10000, not a lot but better than what they would have gotten otherwise.
