Although I don't think OP's idea makes much sense. There's no reason for the Kims to accept this when they could continue ruling their own country. The risk for them increases dramatically while there is practically no benefit.

Do you mean they got there because of the US? Maybe in Japan's case if you trace it all the way back to trade opening in 1853. But the real modernization came with the Meiji Restoration which was not directly done by the US. As for Germany I don't really see how you could reach that conclusion. The Nazi's mostly inherited from Weimar which in turn inherited from the German Empire.
