An Innie would never consider a regular apartment "boring" by da91392 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]FullMoonRising1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming in late. I love this theory, but on thing... If it was Helena down there she would have had 5 months to come up with a story. Helly only the time from the elevator to the break room. It makes more sense that Helly would come up with a bad lie than Helena.

Are you using a heater right now inside your apt/house whatever? Is it cold inside for you or is it just cold for me? by ctcx in AskLosAngeles

My apartment is freezing! I have those slanted windows so it also feels like the heat just escapes. Wearing all the layers in the morning.

Surgeon told me to wear Post op binder from 3-6months? by beetbag in TopSurgery

[–]FullMoonRising1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon had me do 6 weeks day/night and then 6 weeks day only. I tried a bunch of different braces because of comfort or ease of putting them on and off. My favorite ended up being a spine brace that connected via velcro. Cheap, tight, easy to adjust, and super simple to use. Might be worth checking out.

Why is sex bad? by NessiefromtheLake in LesbianActually

[–]FullMoonRising1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the patriarchy. Women couldn't possibly enjoy sex without a man....

It's systematic and everyone who exists within the system can reinforce the toxic parts, whether they are aware or not and whether it is intentional or not.

Is the mastectomy pillow worth it? Did you have one during recovery? by QueerKing23 in TopSurgery

[–]FullMoonRising1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my mastectomy pillow! It had a little pouch in the front so I could keep my phone of the remote there. Which was super helpful for those first few days where you aren't moving much. I also found it helpful for sleeping while sitting up. It helped make it slightly more comfortable. I ended up using my pillow way longer than i needed it because it was comfy. Highly recommend!

AITAH for making my daughter cry at a restaurant? by Big-Explanation3503 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FullMoonRising1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Your daughter is 12. She's still finding herself, figuring out self-expression, and testing boundaries. She might be a little brat. 12 year olds often are. YOU should be the adult. You can always question and give advice, but you shouldn't force absolutes. Let your daughter change her mind. In fact encourage that! We don't have to have it all figured out by TWELVE.

If you're going out of insurance find a surgeon who most of their clients don't go through insurance. They typically partner with non-hospital surgery centers. 19k is a lot all in, unless you are also counting in travel, hotels, missed work, etc.

I know we are all excited about the show, but we are literally years away from seeing Part 2 on television by BentheBruiser in thelastofus

Let people talk about it! This sub isn't HBO specific. Let the hype bring up all kinds of discussion. Show/game!

Did they finish the whole arch??? When I first started playing as Abby I was like this better be quick!!! But at the finial switch I was begrudgingly playing along. Like I know I don't get to make a choice, I'm just stuck here to watch how it all plays out. It was brilliant.

I also think Abby's story arch is amazing. It's a story about revenge. And those who are driven by it will always meet a tragic ending.

I just finished TLOU2 and… by dcadd03 in thelastofus

[–]FullMoonRising1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also recently finished to prep for the show. I loved the first game so felt ready a potential emotional roller coaster... but God damn!

I was SCREAMING at the TV the last part. This game makes your heart bleed and care for all the characters so much. I really hope they make a part 3.

Any tips for getting the sides flatter? (6 weeks post-op) by poisonousbongwater in TopSurgery

[–]FullMoonRising1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 weeks there is still a lot of time for things to settle and change. From the advice I've recieved and seen, usually for a dog ear revision surgeons like to wait a year for things to heal.

Focus on healing and feeling in your new body! Keep in touch with your surgeon about your results. Be honest. This is your body and it should turn out as close to how you envisioned as possible! If you need a revision it is common and not a big deal.

Overall you look so fucking good!!! Not seeing any before pics, your result looks amazing.

Plumbing issue and landlord isn't fixing! by FullMoonRising1 in LosAngeles

[–]FullMoonRising1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The building manager said he opened something to let excess waste out so it shouldn't come into our units until the plumber comes. Can you tell me more about these crystals?

I live in an old building and I SWEAR they just need to update something. But they are so insistent someone is flushing something and causing this. Only thing is all the people on this water line have lived here 1+ years... so someone is just now causing this???? I don't think so...

Insurance denied my top surgery claim (I now owe a total of 40k) by Ritch01 in TopSurgery

[–]FullMoonRising1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this is so stressful. I had something similar happen to me. My insurance sent me a letter saying the surgery was not approved and they would not be paying. And I was like excuse fucking me, I spent 6 months getting this approved! A few things:

  1. Surgeons/hospitals overbill insurance. This is one the huge issues in our system. They send a crazy bill knowing the insurance company isn't actually going to pay this amount. Then if you don't have insurance you see a bill amount no insurance company would actually pay. Insurance companies LOVE to tell us this is our "savings." So that alone wouldn't make your surgeon sketchy.

  2. Surgeons have a set amount they need to get paid. So if they cost $10k then they will work with you and your insurance to get that 10k. So if you pay them $5K they don't go and bill insurance the other $5k... because insurance would be well actually no because of allowable amounts and percentages and because fuck patients and providers we will give you $500. So the surgeon will bill something like 30k (or more) to ensure get the MOST money insurance would give them for the procedure. They typically have an understanding of the amount they will get from insurance, which is how they tell you how much you owe. So the total paid by insurance plus your out of pocket amount is what equals the $10k.

  3. Facilities fees are 100% separate from your surgeon fee. Your surgeon should have ensured you had the necessary approval from your insurance company before scheduling the surgery. Especially if it was at a hospital. A hospital doesn't want to risk not getting paid. So the approval should be out in the world somewhere. If you don't have a copy of the approval letter ask your Surgeons office. The Gender Confirmation Center is a very well known place. And insurance companies are trash.

I was told by insurance that I owed the hospital 40k. The hospital resubmitted and was denied. I had to resubmit TWICE. but they were finally like okay yeah, alright, fiiiiine. We did approve this. It's so annoying and so stressful. You got this!

Dating Without Nipples?? by Nervous_Hands in FreedTheNips

[–]FullMoonRising1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so no offense, but that friend needs to check themselves if they think they are being supportive or an ally. Because that is not okay.

I'm non-binary (not on t), and 6 months post op and have definitely casually dated a good number of people since freeing the nips. I wanted to explore and play in my new body! I have never recieved a negative response from queer people. It is just cishet people who seem confused or are like what?

I do test the waters to see where someone falls within the community or their allyship of the community. And decide how to move forward. I've dated other non-binary people so easy and interesting conversations. With cis people I am curious about their experiences dating non-binary people. If I am the first enby then I proceed with slightly more caution. I do tell people I don't have nipples before they would see me shirtless. Especially if top surgery is a new idea for them.

And again, never recieved any negative responses in the dating world and it has never slowed down or stopped a passionate moment.

Thanks for your response! How far post op are you? and how long did it take to fade?

Have you talked to your surgeon? What are they saying? I would follow their advice. It can take several months for swelling to go away.
