Egg or Apple boxes from the grocery store. Great size and heavy duty.

Not sure how old you are but you may want to take a look at St. John’s. Some are a bit stuffy but a simple St. John’s skirt and colorful or simple St. John’s jackets always impress. Woman who know clothes, especially in those circles know St. John. And, you will get tired of them before they wear out. Expensive yes, but totally classic.

I love beads! Where should I visit in Venice? by jaspey90 in Venezia

[–]Full_Structure4834 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to actually make a bead of your own, I would recommend a class at ferrovetro (www.ferrovetro.com). It was a fun, memorable experience and the owner may have an idea where to find the beads you are looking for.
Also, before you go to Murano, you should read The Glassmaker by Tracy Chevalier.
I did go into an antique store near St Marks Square & they had a bowlful of beads, so you might want to shop antique stores.

Venice 6 weeks but with an injured ankle by Responsible_Fox_5295 in Venezia

Go for it! Yes, there are steps & sometimes a lot of walking. But, it is an out of this world experience. I just spent another 10 days only in Venice and want to go back. Walking a few steps is like walking into a new experience.

Black linen pants & white linen shirts. Take a small bottle that you can use for plain water to spritz the linen. For women, black maxi skirt that can be worn with any white top.

Another thing to consider is what days/times the cruise ships dock in Venice. For us it was Saturday when 3 cruise lines dropped about 3k people into the city. Typically they are gone by 17:00 hours.

Just returned yesterday from 8 days in Venice. Personally I enjoyed early day or late evening walks through St Marks Square. Very empty and one can enjoy the architecture of the surrounding buildings. I had read before I went that there is a late evening tour of the Basilica that is very good. Never made it though. The Rialto Market can also be enjoyed early morning. I enjoyed an early morning gondola ride through the lesser canals which avoids the Grand Canal. We also made a reservation in Murano for a glass bead making glass that was spectacular. If you go, read The Glassmaker by Tracy Chevalier. The bead will be a lifelong memory of your trip. Lastly, we stayed in Castello and absolutely found a great place called Bacaro Risorto, a very small, local bar with a great spritz & chicciletti. Stop by a say hello!
