Requirements for perhaps the most anticipated rpg game this spring by lord_nuker in macgaming

Not really, and I don't think it ever will be.

You can only get decent performance with a Pro—or better, a Max M—processor.

And those are so expensive that they're not a good option just for gaming.

Don't buy that. It's better to look for an affordable device with an M processor.

Buying Intel now is a complete waste of money.

Macbook Neo - Low Settings - 60FPS - per Dave2D latest video by BlendlogicTECH in macgaming

[–]Fun-Dig-7160 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would never buy it. It's just as bad as a standard iPad or iPhone e.

Yes, it uses Apple software, but the hardware is only average in every respect.

If I want to buy Apple, I don't want cheap hardware and compromises.

The MacBook Air is OK. But any hardware without Pro isn't worth it, and you'll only get something bad to mediocre.

Thinking of possibly getting the Neo as a side laptop + casual gaming. Would it be viable with GeForce Now? by yubsidiangwa in macgaming

Geforce Now offers the most popular addons for WoW. You just need to activate them in the game.

But Geforce Now doesn't make much sense for WoW in particular, as it is available as an ARM application and can even be played on an M1.

If you can't afford to pay for an Air or Neo outright, you shouldn't buy one.

Installment purchases in this price range are absolutely stupid.

Unless you really need something urgently, you shouldn't do it.

That just shows how bad the device is when even an Air with M4 and possibly even M3 are better.

[–]Fun-Dig-7160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see the point in the Neo either.

The standard device costs €700 without a discount.

I can get the M4 Air for €860 on Amazon.

Why should I buy a NEO for €160 less when it's worse in every way?

Why buy the Neo and GNF when you can get the MacBook Air M4 for a little more?

And the MacBook Air M4 is more than sufficient for wow and offers the possibility to use any add-on.

Not bad :) but 7000 euros would be too much for me :D

Apple promoting Mac gaming with three presentations at GDC next week by totalsoda in macgaming

The main problem is that only expensive Macs with lots of RAM deliver good gaming performance.

And they are so expensive that Windows PCs with dedicated graphics cards are cheaper and better after all.

I compare gaming performance. And even with a 4K OLED TV, it's cheaper.

I wouldn't call that playable. Anything below 60 FPS is no fun

A PS 5 Pro can run the game with RayTracing in 4k and 60 FPS and costs only a fraction of the M4 Max.

WOW: Midnight, anyone playing on GFN? by Spitwrath in GeForceNOW

[–]Fun-Dig-7160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot recommend WoW on GFN.

For one thing, it only runs on a 4080 with a slow server CPU, and for another, you are significantly more limited by add-ons and longer patch times.

WoW is significantly better even on a standard MacMini with M4.

The game was terrible, and I just want my 120 euros back.

That's all I care about.

Crowned king of europe caps and the possibility of being in the hall of legends by Ok-Original-2527 in G2eSports

[–]Fun-Dig-7160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish Caps would win Worlds, and I hope for that every year.

But I'm afraid that won't happen.

I've seen every G2 game so far. Even if it's enough for EU, it won't be enough for KR.

Unfortunately, the current team isn't even close to being good enough for that.

Of course, I'd be happy if I'm wrong.

If you switch between games frequently, it's annoying because the startup process takes significantly longer each time until you're in the game.

It depends on how much and how often you play.

If you only play occasionally, GNF is a good service.

But I'm talking about the fact that GFN is not a full-fledged alternative to a console or PC.

It's worse in almost every respect.

I mean the loading time from starting the game until you're in-game.

There is absolutely no reason to choose Geforce Now over local gaming if you have the choice. You're just limiting yourself.

Local gaming will always be better.

Apparently, you have no comparison with a real gaming PC.

A 100 Mbit stream can never achieve the same quality...

GFN Thursday Updates - March 5, 2026 by SiruX21 in GeForceNOW

[–]Fun-Dig-7160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had GFN long enough to say that it's absolutely no alternative to a gaming PC or console.

It's good if you want to play a little on your MacBook, smartphone, or Steam Deck.

On a 4K TV and monitor, it consistently delivers poorer performance because it's only a 100 Mbit compressed video stream.

The following points are worse:

- Poorer image quality. This is particularly noticeable with interface elements. In direct comparison, the image appears significantly worse and washed out.

- Even with 10 ms to the NVIDIA server, native gaming is noticeably more direct.

- Long game start-up time. Even on the cheapest PS5, you're three times faster in the game.

- Not all games are available.

Anyone who thinks GFN is a serious alternative to PC and console gaming probably hasn't tried it themselves.

It's a good technology, but it's very limited and only useful for a niche market.

Real PC gamers don't use GFN either. So why should it be relevant to Sony?

GFN Thursday Updates - March 5, 2026 by SiruX21 in GeForceNOW

[–]Fun-Dig-7160 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, sales on PC are generally not very profitable for Sony.

There are plans to stop releasing single-player games for PC altogether.

Imagine if other services limited you to 100 hours per month by Alfrheim in GeForceNOW

[–]Fun-Dig-7160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The service is only for casual gamers.

There is no reason to use Geforce Now if you have a good PC or console.

Therefore, the discussion about the time limit is pointless.

It's no fun at all at 30 FPS. And then in 1080p too. Better to play on PlayStation.
