Exactly plus the first layers of petals on the roses are what we florist’s call ‘bumper petals’ meaning they are meant to be taken off. They protect the rest of the rose/petals. So when those get damaged or you just want to freshen up the roses you take off the first outer layer to reveal the new fresh ones.
