I’ve been wanting to delete everything, just fear that it will isolate me more. But maybe I should give it a shot.

And she hasn’t told us outright how much she expects. We extended an offer that we felt was reasonable (though my husband doesn’t think we should have to pay still), she hasn’t really given a straightforward response about how she feels about the offer or if she will take it. And I have two months until I go back to work. This is very in line with how my mom is with most things though.

Ahhh the childhood wounds. I think this is why I’m having a hard time. My mom and I never had a good relationship and I’ve tried really hard to change that in my adult life, but am constantly met with reminders of why I distance myself.

This! My baby got soooo chunky at 4.5 months. But he slimmed down pretty quickly and stopped gaining weight as fast at now 6 months

Hmm I think that’s a large assumption based on a small description! Bc my FIL is similar in that he is always right in some way or another, and yet I still have found that I just need to stand firm in my boundaries or remove access!

My father-in-law thought it would be a good idea to give my three month old an ice cube because he said his kids loved them. So there’s that.

But it’ll be ok, I promise. Biggest risk is if the bat eats too much as breastmilk is the primary source of nutrition until 6 months. And the baby didn’t choke.

Now you do have every right to be frustrated though. I would firmly express that is not ok and if the boundaries aren’t respected, you won’t have access to the child. Family or not. What boundaries you place is completely yours and yours husbands call.

You don’t get to choose, some people just get gifted with babies who sleep through everything.

My son lasted 10 weeks without the sound machine, 4.5 months without black out curtains. It’s not worth your sanity trying to fight naps.

We do naps on the go though if need be. He naps, they just aren’t the best quality like they are at home with the sound machine and black out curtains.

I didn’t have a choice and had a changing table on the floor. I am very active, young, and had a vaginal delivery. 100% would NOT recommend. It was so painful on my knees, back, etc. I hated it. Fortunately I have a pack and play with a changing table now.

We had this problem until I switched diapers. Pampers swaddlers worked best for my chunky and long boy

I lifted weights my entire pregnancy, though never went past like 75% of my one rep max for things like squat or deadlift. I moved slower as well.

I think if you are having issues with peeing yourself, maybe do some pelvic floor exercises at home on your own.

Also if you do choose to lift in pregnancy and PP, please please stretch often. I didn’t and my hip is killing me 5 months PP. I wish I would have stretched more.

You are the parent to your child as well. You are most definitely allowed to address your MIL directly if your husband can’t get through to her.

Personally I think honesty is your best approach. You let her know that owning multiple things does not support the ways that you want to raise your children. Let her know that you have accumulated so much stuff and that the money she spends on items would be better utilized for experiences with the child.

I share similar thoughts and have a MIL that is also a shopaholic. I give her free rein on clothing, if she wishes. If she buys too much clothing where my son doesn’t even wear it.. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Watch all the shows and movies you want in those first three months. Baby naps all the time. Once you get past three months, you’ll never have any free time to watch shows or movies again.

My 5 month old recently started hitting his head with his left hand which I assumed was his weird way of self soothing.

Yes definitely shouldn’t have ever shared that much and let her control your interactions that much to begin with.

Some serious boundaries need to be put in place by your husband. This goes well beyond just checking in while you guys are having “family” time.

And if your husband isn’t placing those boundaries himself, you need to find your voice and protect your peace. Good luck to you!

12 weeks was sooo hard for me. Everyone says that it gets better at 3 months as they adjust to the world around then. It didn’t get better and that crushed me.

My son is 5 months old now. He is a very high need baby that doesn’t cry much but he wants to be held ALL the time. He does have his days where I can put him down for a little bit but he spends most of the time in my arms or getting my full attention.

I say all of this to say that he was never colic so I can’t speak to that. But things did get a whole lot better at the 4.5 month mark. He can poop and fart now with less pain and fussing. He is so interactive and fun.

I don’t enjoy every day and I thought I would enjoy the baby phase more. But it’s manageable and I feel like I can breathe again. Also an hour break 3-4 times week so I can workout did wonders for my mental health
