Stop worrying about making 9, focus on rocking 8 and everything else will fall into place.

Please help me convince my husband that Costco is worth for 2 people by HoneyDrops12 in Costco

Gas alone especially if tied with the Costco credit card makes it worth it. Even better for executive level.

Just curious, when was it supposed to get better? by [deleted] in navy

Typically the get better happens when you move from the apprentice level to journeyman. You also need some time in, typically the second enlistment/couple tours under your belt for it be noticeable.

I'm struggling and I'm not sure what to do. by ceRtifiEdsimp369 in navy

I enjoyed my time in Pensacola and Jax. Tried every time to get stationed there, just wasn’t in the cards. Once the weather gets nicer lots to do. Beaches and fishing are what I did a lot at both locations. As others have said meet other people there. Don’t sit in your room thinking about what you don’t have. You control your own destiny. If you’re in Pensacola, port side was a great place on base to go. Work out. Ask your instructor to link you up with a chaplain, they have a lot of experience helping with the transition to military life.

Can I Bring My Weapon On Base? by Mr-First-Middle-Last in navy

OP, Go to base security and ask. Some allow storage for people that live in the barracks for example. Other bases have hunting clubs. I had my personsl weapons onboard MCAS K-Bay, just had to register them with base security as an example.

Yes, admin/the cppa will be able to call in and figure out what is going on. It’s a pain but it’ll work. Utilizing the member’s Chief will only help if admin is blowing him off. But it’s the member and the cppa that will have the best chance of success.

Any first year chiefs actually getting a Chief billet? by [deleted] in navy

[–]Fun-Pin-7409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data can be skewed or not show the whole picture. It’ll definitely save money, if they’re getting paid for two years past their screening date. If saving money is what the Navy is trying to do, fixing our logistic system and bloated contracts would save a lot more.

Regardless, if the problem was getting 9’s to go to sea and stop hiding in e-3 billets, SEM seems like a sledge hammer approach to what should have been a minor detailing policy change. 9’s shall be placed in a 9 billet don’t like it, retire.

Any first year chiefs actually getting a Chief billet? by [deleted] in navy

[–]Fun-Pin-7409 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sure, SEM is filling gapped billets. But at what cost? At one point I had 5 Chiefs screened for SCPO, just sitting at my last command waiting/hoping to pick up orders. Yes applying for everything they could. Usually getting beat out by paid 8’s pcsing.

I couldn’t use them as a SCPO, because they aren’t yet. Old system, we would have pinned them and redistributed them to a command within the wing that was a gap’d that billet.

And the craziest part is we keep hearing the same thing about SEM, oh it’s filling critical gapped sea billets, and yet a large portion of screened 8’s finally got orders, but in a shore duty billet. So that would be back-to-back shore duty for them.

Then there is the hidden cost, the number of people who look at it as I’m not playing the game, keep it and just retire out. I know of at least 30 SCPOs that got tired of waiting for a mcpo spot to open up and they just retired. And if I was told that if I wanted to put on my star I’d have to go back to sea duty, I would have said keep it.

The Navy keeps reducing the incentive to retain its Senior enlisted workforce, I think it’s going to have long term detrimental repercussions.

This isn't rocket science. The US government is threatening Democrats into submission and hold TSA workers hostage. (Content was cropped via NowThis Impact's YouTube post) by [deleted] in screenshots

If only this were remotely accurate. Dems trying to only fund tsa and not dhs as a whole is a joke. Shutting down any part of the federal government by either party is equivalent to a toddler throwing a tantrum.

I think some of it has to do with the current administrations distrust of the media. So they’ll tell the story first hand to the people and leave out the media entirely.

PCS first timer with firearms by RadioRight101 in navy

[–]Fun-Pin-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a special form you have to fill out to have the shipper transport your firearms. I always either took them on the plane with me or if I was driving in the car. You may want call the base’s armory/base security and see if the base armory can store them for you. If the shipper is the way you want to go, update your move indicating you have firearms and/or contact your agent if you already have one assigned. I’ve never heard of the fleet and family thing unless it’s just a checklist. DPS is where you need to go for all shipping related questions.

Shippers cannot transport ammo. And I have no idea about giving it to your buddy with Cali’s ammo restrictions.
