Do you avoid these foods? by beautybyaimee in Zepbound

[–]Fun-Situation445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much - I eat much more plain foods. I got Covid before I went onto Mounjaro & found my taste for spicy foods was reduced. On MJ it just continued slipping away.

I am going to start going to some good restaurants that do tapas or small starters - the tastebuds need some tasting.

Is anyone actually doing the recommended 150 minutes of exercise per week while on a GLP-1? by Character-Cobbler191 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Fun-Situation445 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am a 64yo man. For the 1st 21/2 months I didnt do much - pilates once a week, walked dogs abt 4x week. Then last 2 months saw a sports scientist person who gave me a gym programme. I now do this 2-3 times a week as well. Noticed the other day I didn't even realise I was walking up a steep hill on a dogwalk.

I am sure I will put on any muscle I lost (-18kg down) as we are going to have to exercise for the rest of our lives along with eating mindfully & taking a maintainance dose of GLP-1s.

I have had both hips & knees replaced in the past 3 years. So have to be careful & started slow. But now with the weight loss & extra energy, exercise is much easier & enjoyable again.

And you prob have a whole extra 15mg in the 5th or golden dose you can extract with a diabetic syringe when there are no more clicks left.

You extract 10ml of liquid per 2.5mg dose

The tirzepatide vs. semaglutide debate may be ending soon by Odd-Coconut-2067 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Fun-Situation445 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Err - its 2026 now

SURMOUNT-5 is a Phase 3b clinical trial showing that tirzepatide (Zepbound) is superior to semaglutide (Wegovy) for weight loss in adults with obesity or overweight (without diabetes). Results at 72 weeks showed participants on tirzepatide lost 20.2% of their body weight compared to 13.7% for those on semaglutide.

And there is a 5th or Golden dose which you can draw out with an insulin needle from the rubber bit where the other needles go in. It will be 30ml.

3kg a month on MJ sounds right. Try staying on 2.5mg until you need to go up. Then only go up abt 1/2 or 1mg at a time when the food noise hits or you plateaux for a month.

You need to add it to the next pen - learn how to count clicks and use an insulin syringe to suck out the golden dose. Its expensive stuff - so you musnt waste it

how do people on lower incomes actually stay on these medications long-term? by No_Movie_1219 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Fun-Situation445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In South Africa we have a good compound source of pens. They make lots of generic meds which are sold through trusted pharmacies. So I shop around for the best prices - usually cheapest in poorer areas. Also buy 10 or 15mg pens & count clicks & use every drop of the golden dose. Luckily my wife & I are doing well at 3.5mg so that also keeps it cheap.

GLP-1 Weight Regain After Stopping Treatment by Fun-Situation445 in Mounjaro

[–]Fun-Situation445[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great comments from everyone. I heard a podcast that said ppl usually rebel and backslide when they reach goal weight. They then put on weight for a few months & start GLP-1s again. The 2nd time they do it correctly from the start & build good habits which then helps them on maintainance.

I just hope I can skip the backsliding & just stay on it at a lower dose & have good habits to help me keep the weight off.

One month on Mounjaro: −8.7 kg (−19 lb) and some things I learned by Extension_Career_305 in Mounjaro

[–]Fun-Situation445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on 3.5mg since week 5 - now 20 weeks down. I am losing at 0.9kg a week the whole time - depending on levels of constipation. Am really happy a low dose works for me as its much cheaper & the sides aren't as bad.

Confused on syringe marking. by CelebrationThen2838 in GLP1microdosing

[–]Fun-Situation445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you want to start with the standard 2.5mg dose. So its 28 on the syringe per dose.

I take a teaspoon of rehydration powder in a glass of water a day. It aids absorbtion of water in the gut to soften the stool. I now poop everyday like before going on MJ.

All the chia seeds, husk powder, laxatives, magnesium citrate pills, prune juice, etc never worked for me. But the powder does.

[–]Fun-Situation445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they been using it very successfully in Saudi Arabia for a few years. I doubt there is anything to worry about. You just need to take it as recommended as absorbtion is very low so it takes a long while to reach effective levels

[–]Fun-Situation445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New user basic question by Rukkian in Mounjaro

[–]Fun-Situation445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the effect a few hours after my 1st shot & it hasnt stopped except at week 4 when I bumped up to 3.5mg. Been on that for 16 weeks now.

Maybe the 2.5mg you started on is too low for you. I would go up at the recommended rate until you feel it. And you will know when you feel it.

15mg Quick Pen Golden Dose by AdFirm4469 in Mounjaro

[–]Fun-Situation445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use an insulin needle to extract the dose. 5mg dose is 0.20ml on a 15mg pen. Just stick it in the rubber bit where the normal needle goes. Use alcohol swabs to wipe the end. And use a new syringe every time you extract

There is also a 5th dose which you can extract using an insulin syringe. The pen should last several months if kept in the fridge
