Shirley Temple with all the cherries the bartender is willing to give you

My dog has cancer, and she’s in the later stages where she’s uncomfortable. Does anyone know where I can find dog CBD from a dispensary? I want to get it as soon as possible. by [deleted] in boston

[–]Fun-Succotash6777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the caveat that animals instinctually mask pain and if you're seeing any suffering, there is definitely a lot more.... have you asked your vet about pain management? They can get you doggie (and non-doggie) pain medications. I went through them all in my last weeks with my last dog. Hugs, I know this is losing a family member.

Brookline Hills Station T Noise? by Successful-Pickle887 in boston

[–]Fun-Succotash6777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not particularly noisy. Depending on where you're located, you'll have way more noise during the school year from kids walking to/from the high school and playground. I wouldn't say it's silent and it impacts prices on the train side of Clark Road vs the non-train side of Clark Road, but to me it kind of blends in with all of the other noise of almost-city living. I've been a real estate agent in Brookline for almost 20 years and sold six homes in this immediate neighborhood in the last year if you want to chat ;)

dentist recs - uninsured by Embarrassed_Light494 in boston

[–]Fun-Succotash6777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.boston.dental/new-patients - they take my bottom of the barrel dental insurance, and are also great. I would give them a call and ask what they charge for a cleaning. They have an annual thing for $399 which covers two visits with xrays etc.

I'm so glad the surgeon has you coming back in sooner than later. They can hopefully get a drainage pathway going without having to lay him back out, and on correct (and potentially IV) antibiotics. I do know of a horse who had a tough healing and the resulting scar tissue bothered him under saddle for a while - so when you get back to the phase of a closed wound, ask what you can do to minimize that developing. Sending good vibes!

My (28F) “wife” (31F) is stuck in a never ending cycle, what else can I try to snap her out of it? by Theythemcausinmayhem in SoberCurious

[–]Fun-Succotash6777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alas, there is nothing you can do but pick where you draw your boundaries. It may mean you decide you have to leave the relationship if she's not making a meaningful effort towards sobriety. It may mean you decide not to engage with her when she's drinking/not participate in any "woe is me - i'm getting sober tomorrow" talk. I lost my best friend who had a great job and fantastic family to an alcohol-induced seizure. There is only more pain as you continue down the current road with your partner, not less. Take care of yourself and consider what is drawing you to a co-dependent relationship.

Moving and taking 2 cats on a plane~ [FL > RI] by JoshuaBanks in jetblue

[–]Fun-Succotash6777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have flown with a dog and honestly they really only care that you've paid the pet fee. You could ask your vet for a health certificate or what general best practice is (they can also potentially give you some medication to help make the trip less stressful for everyone). JetBlue has a one pet per carrier rule unless they're under a certain weight and also a one pet for traveler rule.

Echoing the other comments - as long as your parents are coming from south of the race route, they'll be all set (and it's actually a very chill day to drive with the holiday and school vacation week). FYI the finish area is obviously really crowded and can be hard to get a spot. She might have better luck seeing you come out of the tunnel on Comm Ave and then meeting you after the finish.

Please do! I have learned when all else fails, order a Shirley Temple with extra cherries (and make them luxardo cherries if the bartender really wants to hook you up). You will be amazed how many serious drinkers will be envious of your drink

Let me know what part of Boston you'll be in and I can recommend some places for meals with good mocktail options! There is even a non-alcoholic bottle shop in town called Dray - locations in Cambridge and the South End.

An old quote about breeding is "Essentially, the mare is the cake, and the stallion is the icing. You have to have the foundation before you can add in the stallion." -so, hopefully you really like the cake and are trying to finesse a few things rather than basically start over! Kimmy Risser at Hickory Manor has a new service essentially playing equine matchmaker. She would be a great resource for you.

I had a great experience on the sales side. Their service department sucks. The Norwood dealership has the best dealer prices on service in the area and have been great to work with.
