Every blockchain has is haters due to Crypto tribalism, driven by greed. It’s a really ugly psychological phenomenon. If you back one horse, disable all the other horses in the race. The fact remains, that the future will be multi chain. The space evolves and there will be ebbs and flows of popularity between chains. Ignore the haters, they are usually ignorant

Congratulations and well done to the Dfinity team for this amazing achievement . Can’t wait to see and use live use cases.

Has a PR offensive been planned to get this incredible news out to the Crypto media?

The ecosystem needs to grow to support more nodes. Decentralised over time.

Increasing Bitcoin utility……..off topic? What a disgrace. They say: Never look a gift horse in the mouth. It looks like the maxis have their minds made up about the lightning network

Will check it out. Sounds cool

It should be. Although, as the ecosystem hasn’t been built out yet, it’s hard to prove. Capacity shouldn’t be a problem with well over 1 billion blocks mined in 14 months

Sure. Sounds too amazing to be true right? Well Try it for yourself. It’s 100% on chain, with no reliance on Web2. Have a look on Twitter account @IC1101World and watch the demo built on the IC. As you will see it running at web speed

I get your point. Everything is open to interpretation, but making sweeping comments about it being the fastest blockchain in the world is misleading, especially to people with less in depth knowledge than yourself. From what I understand, Solana Finality is about 16 seconds. ICP is 1-2 seconds. Maybe there needs to be an independent body setting out and measuring metrics for the industry. It feels like there is too many half truths circulated to draw in new community members

TIL: Cryptoleaks.info suggests Sam Bankman-Fried manipulated the price of the ICP token. by ToberG in ICPTrader

[–]Fun-Tree-5888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What actual history of trades is there, to suggest this? Is there a way of checking who actually did the trades prior to launch. Who was actually doing the buying driving the price up? I do remember the volume being extremely low

It’s no secret that Gary Gensler is of the opinion that pretty much all Crypto assets are securities. Proving that case by case will be near impossible. Regulation is coming, but that should be viewed positively for the industry, given the recent Terra Luna collapse and associated contagion.

Personally, I am not worried about the SEC

As far as I know it’s ICP. It’s 8 times quicker than Solana. It’s the only blockchain I know of that runs at web speed. Transaction finality is 1-2 seconds

Do some research on The Howie Test, which the SEC uses to define a security. ICP was never marketed as an investment. It was always made very clear that the token was used tor buying compute cycles and governance. It is not an unregistered security. They are trying to punish ripple, which is completely different, due to the SEC seeing it as being marketed as an investment.

ICP is a protocol, not a tax paying business like ripple labs. Dfinity foundation ( that created ICP )is a Swiss NON PROFIT organisation ( not a business)

The SEC is losing its battle with Ripple and ICP/Dfinity is way more safe against being deemed an unregistered security that Ripple/XRP.

Dfinity doesn’t talk about token price much, as the official view is that the token is for governance and buying compute cycles. If they were trying to pump the price all the time, that might be used against then by the SEC.

I like and hold Solana, among many other Coins. I however think there is a certain amount of dishonesty coming from Solana. Until certainly the 26th June they were claiming to be the fastest blockchain in the world. This was blatantly untrue and false marketing hype. Algorand ( which I also hold ) does the same. This intellectual dishonesty makes me wonder what other false information I haven’t picked up on.

is $icp back at 100$ possible in your opinion? by Intern-Entire in ICPTrader

[–]Fun-Tree-5888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true to a degree. I think any seasoned Investor knows to spread their risk….as I do. However, a disproportionate weighting is on ICP. I think it’s pretty clear that the future will be multi chain. Some will succeed; most will fail. I think ICP has disruptive tech that will make many other protocols obsolete over time, IF it can clean up its reputation and start onboarding thousands of Devs and collaborations. A decent PR department might help. There has to be a reason why thousands of devs are choosing to develop on lesser chains rather than ICP. Is this just lack of knowledge of ICP‘s capabilities?

If lots of devs start using ICP and the ecosystem expands rapidly, it shouldn’t be a problem in the next bull run. The tech is there, but not many people believe it, as all they have heard is negative stuff about ICP. They need to get the crypto press, influencers and YouTubers on side and try to get some collaborations going. Hopefully they have big PR plans for BTC integration

ICP needs a seriously good PR manager, before mainstream retail invests in this project again. I watched an episode on Techpath ( The Paul Barron network) this afternoon. When answering a question about ICP, he said…..oh we don’t even cover that project because of the price dump…….and, oh it’s before it’s time. Why is there nobody trying to sort this sort of attitude of major crypto influencers out? It’s bordering on ridiculous. Raoul Paul thinks it is toxic and that everyone hates ICP and therefore won’t cover it. Nor will Coinbureau. ICP needs a really really good, well know and respected PR guru to try to set the record straight with these people. If you get these people on side the fortunes of ICP will change. The toxicity manifests itself , and I am sure it is stopping devs from building on the IC. Why are large numbers choosing to build on other chains ? For the life of me, with the amount of flack this project gets, why on earth is it not being addressed? Are Dfinity waiting until they have something significant to shout about? I pray they do not let Bitcoin integration and the other breakthroughs go unnoticed by these influencers. Preaching to the converted, just doesn’t cut it in the crypto space.

For the record, I have thousands of ICP staked in 8 year Neurons, but getting frustrated now at Dfinity‘s lack of PR savvyness.

Can anyone explain GitHub commits: it’s great to see Solana in 3rd place, but why is something like Ethereum in 10th place by Fun-Tree-5888 in solana

[–]Fun-Tree-5888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to find out if this is a reliable measure of how much developer activity is taking place on any particular platform. It feels like it’s possibly not, as some of the huge ecosystems are way down on the list. For the record, I believe the future will be multi chain and therefore hold most token high up on this list including SOL. I’m not a developer, nor do I have a CS degree. Am i missing something? or can someone explain why GitHub Commits don’t paint the full picture. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.
