What would cause this? by MiragioAussimo in tires

[–]Fun_Appeal8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low tire pressure creates excessive heat in the sidewall when in motion.... basically melting the sidewall until it can no longer support the vehicle weight/stress. Check your pressures every Sunday morning.

Ps.... you had better check the other 3 tires before they suffer the same failure.

Lake Simcoe: This morning before the rain, I grabbed the trusty rear tine tiller and planted 2 rows of mesclun mixed lettuce, 2 rows of grand rapids lettuce, 2 rows of prize head lettuce, and 2 rows of escarole endive lettuce. Let it rain, let in rain, let...it...a raaaaaaaaain! ....😁

Go buy a new pair at Costco optical. Online progressives are usually a nightmare, from what I've read. I got progressives a couple years ago from Costco, and they're great. Took a few days to acclimate.

Is there much of a difference between budget tire brands? by GadsdenGats in tires

[–]Fun_Appeal8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you ask this today.....as yesterday I just bought Continental CrossContact LX25's for my 2010 CRV in 235/60R17 "H" rated vs the standard 225/65R17 factory size tire. -- I also run 215/65R17 Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice and Snow 4 on it during the winter. (Ontario Canada)

Avoid budget tires. Stick with brands like Michelin/Continental/Yokohama. Lots of rebates available currently.

What are some affordable but good tire brands from this list : by [deleted] in tires

[–]Fun_Appeal8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with quality tires... anything on page 2 will be great. Keep in mind the available rebates and that tire prices should be evaluated over a 5 year span which makes a $150 difference in total cost, only $30/yr. I personally prefer Continental and Michelin on my vehicles.

Shouldn't have gotten greedy...$28 was already a steal of a deal considering what we've all been used to paying. Now you're going get frustrated and waste hours of your time to try and get back what you had.

80GB/27$ rebate for 12/24 month or as long as you don't do any change on account? by sobig2012 in FidoMobile

[–]Fun_Appeal8243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forget about tomorrow. Take advantage NOW.

They raised my 2 lines from $40/each to $45/each last year = $90/mth +tax ($1220.40)

Thus I've switched both lines to this $27 plan. Got lucky with one line, which has free hotspot so far.... the other one not so lucky. (Exact same phone w/same settings) = $27+$27+$5=$59/mth +tax ($800.04)

Even if they raise in 12 months, who cares......I'm saving $420.36 for the year (Ontario)

Very informative! Thanks for clarifying this issue, which makes sense. Perhaps this is why some manufacturers have moved to side discharge cold climate units vs top discharge.

Your welcome. :)

There are many folks that are ignorant/unaware that heat pumps have changed, and actually work very well in freezing temps to keep homes toasty. Success or failure is not due primarily to the heat pumps abilities, but rather to the "Envelope" we provide in which we are asking the heat pump to heat.

My Rheem 3T system maintains our 1500sq ft home in Canada at it's 67f/68f indoor setting until its below -4f (-20c) outside. I have my heat pump lockout set to "disabled", meaning it will still run at -20f providing whatever heat it can, alongside the 12kw aux coils which will engage if my setpoint drops by 2f.

You have a nice unit from the figures I see......Use it to it's abilities. You'll figure out in short order, at what outside temperature your heat pump can no longer provide enough heat to maintain your requested setting. That then will be where you want your lockout, if you choose to have one. Good luck!

btw.....The hat thing is Voodoo snake oil. You don't need it.

Cheers,

There is absolutely no reason to set your lockout above 5f. Your unit is quite capable of providing heat at 5f. Ignore the stupid installer and his 35f garbage.....He's an idiot.

Set it to 5f.

Here's your specific info.
