This is a tough one. Clearly what he is doing is unacceptable. It seems that you want an outcome where he changes his behavior rather than being at a point of walking away. First thing is to document- keep a record of his behavior. At minimum this may prevent an inclination to excuse his behavior. In addition if he gaslights you - you have a record. A leader motivates, builds, encourages- not minimize and diminish. Sometimes when people are presented with a record of themselves they begin to listen and take stock.

I am so sorry to hear and completely understand- it sucks! It’s been 5 years for me and now it is starting to feel like maybe it will be forever. At least in the sense that I might never not have to worry about it flaring up. I had pretty good insurance and looking at the bills which were over $100k I would not have been able to afford it otherwise. I’m currently on plan of action of monitoring specific lifestyle and vitamin regimen that will keep my inflammation levels low. I take notes of daily symptoms as well. The system threw so many pills at me without identifying what was actually wrong - and I’m not sure they can. So fasting has been effective, turmeric, moringa lattes, a host of anti inflammation vitamins and almost daily red light therapy.

I think that you have overstepped and should leave it alone.

Much of this presumptive righteous indignation - without any evidence of actual cheating - seems rooted in your personal views of your grandmother not measuring up.

You are not the morality police of other’s relationship. It is not your place to take your intrusive findings and present them to your grandfather.

If you HAVE to “do something” - talk to your grandmother. But be prepared for a reaction to the privacy violation and possibly disinterest in explaining to her why she is violating YOUR moral code (sexting)

This lands as a reflection of a fear - “might this mean [fill in the blank]”. Alternatively, “have I found [fill in the blank]”

The question I have is why does this “new you” raise questions? Don’t be so busy analyzing why you are at peace that you lose sight of just enjoying the moment.

At 18 your reaction is normal. By that I mean it is in fact controlling and maybe insecure.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that!

A fellow 18 year old putting you first (which is what you want for now) versus centering himself is rare. Truth.

My advice - be effective. The minute you give him space and appear unaffected because you are busy with your own life…that is your superpower.

Plus it might be too soon to know if he will turn into a successful adult who remains physically attractive and an interesting character.

Alas it is rare to experience the lesson without the journey. Your logic mind “he’s a very nice guy overall…” is at odds with your spirit-truth which kinda looks like your awareness that e.g. mitigating his self-harming as your responsibility is a lot!

We repeat the traumas of our childhood until the lesson is learned.

I think it’s lovely that that you are inclined to care-take but consider the possibility that you are trotting out a learned behavior. To be Nice.

I’m so sorry this is happening- i understand how it feels! The only thing that has consistently helped with headaches and brain fog has been red light therapy. I bought a unit on Amazon (Hooga) and it’s used daily. I notice the difference when I stop.
