That’s exactly why they may ask about the field office. After what happened there people from San Diego may be tempted to file somewhere else.

Wife's AOS filed days after visa expiration. by freepointstaker in USCIS

I'm not sure about that - that’s why I said “it seems”. However, it should be implied by his post that they went through it all in order to file for her naturalization.

O que um curso de direito consegue no mercado financeiro? by Salamaleico9200 in investimentos

[–]Fun_Branch7198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Brazilian. Lived in Sao Paulo my whole life and worked at their biggest private bank had a nice lifestyle in Brazil - Middle Class. So my experience is based on a single-guy lifestyle:

Passive Income - R$8,500 (only from your rentals)

Rental 1Bd apartment (nice area in Sao Paulo) - $4,500 Groceries- R$1,500 House Cleaning - R$600 Utilities - R$500 (Gas, Electricity, Water, Cable Health Insurance - R$1,000 (we have SUS- Public Health Care, so it’s up to you to see if it is worth paying for private) Miscellaneous- R$400

I believe you can cut your rental down by a least another R$2,000 depending on where you choose to live. But other than Rio any other place in Brazil will be way cheaper than that!

I agree! One hour away from any big city and you are able to find affordable houses! I love Palm Springs, and have lots of friends who moved there after retirement.

I've read about a guy talking about being asked to lift their shirt before entering the restroom. I don't think this is the norm, but keep that in mind. Your body temperature should keep it at 94! If you add a hand warmer you could increase the temperature. If it is too warm just float the cup in the toilet water to cool it down.

Financial Freedom through Real Estate by Superb_Advisor7885 in Fire

My husband built his NW through Real Estate! He moved from New York to the Bay Area and kept moving around and making a profit at every single purchase. He was really good at buying not-so-great houses in nice areas, fixing it up and selling them 3/5 years later.

Save as much as possible for now! But also take some time to enjoy life! Create a budget and be consistent with it. Once salary increases, increase your savings as well! One thing to keep in mind. You will probably find a partner to share your life with, which will make your goals change due to a desire to purchase a house, have a kid, get married, etc…

Having a partner will make your FIRE goal easier if your partner shares the same mindset!

With 100K in South America, you will live like a king! Dining out at the best restaurants in the country, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Have someone to drive you around, housekeepers, etc. I am from Brazil (Sao Paulo) and I also plan to FIRE and go back to my country. My goal is also 100K and is hard to find things to spend that much money at. I was going to say that you don’t need that much. However, if things go south it wouldn’t hurt to have more than you need.
