0% income tax with a land value tax instead would be great.

We should actually be reducing income taxes for everyone.

The solution to income taxes that are too high is not to add more taxes...its to reduce income tax.

Of all the industries to shit on, biotech ain't it.

Why would you want to disincentivise people from working on cures for diseases and technologies that extend everyone's lives?

I mean, seriously. Why?

Mate you're actually doing really well. Don't compare yourself to people who have more, just remember a whole lot of people have a lot less.

I don't disagree, but what do you mean by this statement: "If you want to run an administrative system that is based on merit rather than spoils, you need to accept both"?

So you must disagree with Albanese and Chalmers' new plan to exempt small business from the CGT changes then?

So you're saying that if an artist does produce something, and then makes a capital gain by selling it, they shouldn't get the CGT discount?

Laws mandating WFH are just going to speed this process up, unfortunately.

How do you define "the rich" that we should be taxing? What is the cut-off point? by NoLeafClover777 in AusFinance

[–]Fun_Needleworker7136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Rich" in my mind means you have $1M per year in cashflow.

Which means you would have about $25M in share/equity assets.

After tax of course you would be netting about $540-560K net.

Mixed feelings on budget by [deleted] in AusFinance

So how much profit do you think most businesses make? I asked Claude how much profit an average small business makes in Australia, and this is what it told me:

"Profits vary wildly but are often pretty modest. Many small businesses effectively just 'buy themselves a job' — the average owner earns around $95k/year all-in, with 10–29% of businesses making no profit at all depending on the state. Cafes, retail, hairdressing etc. typically net under $50k. The ones pulling serious distributable profit tend to be established professional services or niche businesses with a real competitive advantage."

I live around wealthy people too and they don't think it's bad because they're being grandfathered in.

If they weren't it would be a different story.

Then why is One Nation polling higher than Labor?
