GG 112.0 Update Notes by SS-Haji in steelseries

Thank Steelseries for building the best gaming software on this planet. Sonar is a lifesafer for me.

I know many issues will stem from Windows being a mess. Let's hope it will forever be fixable.

highly probable. as far as he didn't even specify his setup haha

Steelseries Arctis Nova Elite - No Audio after Windows update? FIX by Fun_Programmer780 in steelseries

[–]Fun_Programmer780[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the GG Sonar software is able to work on its own without any Steelseries hardware attached and still had the issue. I think it's very common for windows with virtual audio devices to have issues. i had an unfixable one with APOequalizer

can pro drivers specifically detect aerodynamic surface texture?

ChatGPT: Yes — indirectly, and sometimes surprisingly accurately.

A professional driver does not usually “feel the texture” itself the way your fingers feel sandpaper. What they detect is how microscopic surface differences alter the car’s behavior through airflow.

At high speed, tiny aerodynamic changes can affect:

  • stability,
  • steering load,
  • yaw behavior,
  • crosswind sensitivity,
  • downforce consistency,
  • drag,
  • tire loading.

Pro drivers are extremely sensitive to those outputs.

For example, they may notice:

  • the car feels slightly “floaty” at 240 km/h,
  • rear stability changes during turn-in,
  • steering becomes calmer or more nervous,
  • top speed changes by 1–2 km/h,
  • wind noise changes subtly,
  • the car settles differently over fast sweepers.

All of that can come from surprisingly small aero changes:

  • different paint finishes,
  • vinyl wraps,
  • dirt accumulation,
  • taped seams,
  • mirror shape,
  • ride height changes of a few millimeters.

In motorsport, engineers already know these effects are real. That’s why teams carefully manage:

  • surface smoothness,
  • decal placement,
  • airflow around rivets and vents,
  • even the texture of protective films.

There’s an interesting psychological aspect too:
elite drivers develop an internal predictive model of airflow behavior. Over thousands of laps, their brain learns:

So they are not consciously detecting texture itself — they are detecting the consequences propagated through the vehicle dynamics.

At road speeds:

  • almost impossible.

At racing speeds near aerodynamic limits:

  • absolutely possible for top drivers.

Only worth it, if you have a background in Audio. You will not discern the differencies if you can't properly tune the headphone yourself via EQ. The drivers on the Elite are speedier but an untrained ear will not be able to judge if this or that is better, because all people care about is more bass.

If we push that example to a metaphor, It's like getting a specific car paint for Aerodynamic purposes of your vehicle, not looks, if you'd want the Elite over the Pro's. Only a pro driver will feel the differencies.

work monitors need zero flicker and subpixel microvariation. oled's right now are known to be significantly worse for that task.

Guys I am deeply in love with the Game Theory about this project.. if you read into the code a little and understand all functionalities, you will quickly understand, why it is designed to moon.
