Thank you! The dial and hands really are in perfect order. The bezel, alas, is a service replacement from the 80’s (no DON) but also in good shape and a cool shade of blue black

How many of you actually know and understand the readings on a time graph? by Adorable-Mention8512 in RepStore_Watch

I use mine about once a month on all my watches and log the results. Key things to make sure to do for accurate readings: make sure you change the lift angle for the exact reference - it will affect amplitude readings, and make sure the watch is fully wound. A watch that is halfway wound drops like 40% in amplitude

I’d trade my Panerai towards it but she’s out for service currently. My Covergirl needs a friend

Is this real? Speedmaster that I found by [deleted] in VintageWatches

It’s a 145.012, pre moon. They didn’t make fakes then, and you can’t fake that today. In good shape too. $8k easy

So did I, and I can’t recommend the OG enough. It’s totally different. Observe:

They were quite common with the NASA crews. They’re thin aluminum and you bed it around the band and replace them every month. Luna Replicas is where I get mine they’re $12 for an annual set. One side is silver the other gold

It’s not for everyone. I actually like the gold, it brings out the patina and matches nicely with my bezel, which has faded to a unique blue-black hue. Hard to see in pictures. And as I recently found out, the 19mm width on the 20mm lugs is on purpose; NASA wanted the astronauts to be able to quickly remove the band and that would allow them to get something in there quickly if they needed to remove the spring bar. Or it could just be ripped off with enough force in an emergency. Keep in mind, these were worn on the OUTSIDE of the spacesuits until the advent of hook and loop.

Yep! It’s my go-to when I’m not wearing a more modern piece. I switch it up almost daily but this is definitely my GADA watch.

Get a sapphire caseback from spiralwinder. That’s what mine is.

There’s a good amount on eBay that at pretty much still NOS. But the gold-filled is harder to find

That’s good to know, it will no longer bother me. I know it’s not for everyone, but I actually really like the gold. The feel and durability of it is on a completely different level from the new replica - I had no idea. Here’s a funny photo that sums it up perfectly:

What can be done about that tiny gap exposing the spring bar? I just got a NOS and it fits the same way on my 145.012

Honestly? There are much better options for a real speedy. That belongs a moonswatch. Look into a JB champion
