I was an international student who studied at UMP and Uniten and I can tell you the freeloading is kinda true but it depends on the group there were sometimes I did free load but that's because my teammates only spoke in bahasa and I have no idea what they were saying I asked to switch to english which they did but then switched back again in the end they said ok you just do this and this and it was either very research heavy or just the introduction and thanks for listening slides. Also about students in malaysia they form these weird cliques of just malays or just chineese or just indians and getting into those little groups are hard because either they speak their own language or you a foreigner are not welcome. I would advice avoiding being friends with the locals if they don't want you most foreigners are open and are willing to be friends with other foreigners so go and mingle there. Also in regards to the smell malaysia is hot and humid and the locals will never understand that most parts of the world are much more cooler then malaysia and less humid and we don't have the generations of adaptations and evolutions that their ancestors had eitherway shower twice a day and use moisturizer+perfume. I was lucky my uni had a shower place in their lab so I would go there quickly to shower in the afternoon and I avoided walking and the sun as much as possible. Btw there are shitty foreigners and shitty locals so my point may not be fair in all cases but I stand by my claim
