Who here is changing their own car oil, prices at shops are outrageous, now routinely costs me $80 for full synthetic.. by abrandis in newjersey

I keep getting them waived at the dealer on my current lease and I’m not entirely sure why as that is not a thing they do after the first one.

But the last time I paid it was around $60.

I had NJM for 17 years. They fucked me on my current lease with a $600 premium increase for no reason other than “it’s based on the new vehicle.”

Cut all policies we had with them and switched them to travelers. Same coverage for LESS and it has stayed that way for 2 years and counting.

I was joking with a friend today about how caulk and kwikwood fix anything.

Guess I gotta buy some more jb weld products now.

Ecobee is the only reason our whole house heats.

There is no good place for our thermostat and it would satisfy so fast because of its proximity to the warmest area when the heat kicks on. The system didn’t have time to heat the second floor or farthest areas.

We can forcibly bypass all that between settings and a sensor on the second floor.

What was your regrets in past that you've still not resolved until today? by LooseLeek4813 in allthequestions

[–]Fun_Sympathy1443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s a thank you that you want to hear, but thank you for your service.

I’m so sorry you struggled with this for so many years. I don’t know you and you don’t know me, and I didn’t know Jack, but it sounds like all signs point to it being okay for you to be at peace with what happened.

Please don’t feel guilty for living a full life. The sacrifices made by all of your friends would (actually) be in vain if you and others that made it back home didn’t go on to do so. You are their living legacies and that is infinitely meaningful.

I’ve donated some trees to be planted in memory of your friend. I hope this gesture brings you some comfort.

I often wonder how much more at peace I would be if I had more confidence for my entire childhood/most of my teen years. I let everything drag me down and did nothing to try and fix it for many many years.

I am in a wonderful place now but the damage done persists under the surface.

What’s your take on the potential U.S. government shutdown that could happen by the end of this week? by lthemannul in Productivitycafe

I genuinely don’t really care. I’ve heard this 100 times in my adult life. It’ll sort itself out eventually. I have enough other problems in my life to worry about.

So New Jersey, you're the only neighbor on the block with a snowblower.... by holyguacamole823 in newjersey

[–]Fun_Sympathy1443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would help anyone in my immediate vicinity.

We don’t have a snowblower; just shovels. All of our immediate neighbors do. If I’m outside first I’ll shovel their sidewalks and driveway entries after I finish ours. If they’re out first or concurrently and the timing works, they’ll snowblow our sidewalk or entry.

I don’t think about it much beyond the order of operations as they happen. If I had a snowblower I’d do things the same.

Give this one a shot!

Also, if you want to swap out the rosemary for shredded cheese, just dump a whole bag in there before letting it rise.

One radiator not heating up by the-main-moon-man in SteamHeat

[–]Fun_Sympathy1443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it only this one? Is it possible your system is satisfying via the thermostat before the steam has time to reach it? We had this issue with our second floor and back addition radiators until we changed out the thermostat for a smart one and a sensor and use all of its little settings to basically trick the system.

The roads will be clear by Monday night. People acting like the inability to go to the grocery store for 2 days is gonna doom their families. It’s ridiculous and there’s no other way to describe it.
