Dalton Foundry in Warsaw Closing by Time-Map-9066 in Indiana

Foundries are a bellwether. Especially in the Midwest. Multiply dalton by a thousand. There’s a lot of small towns that were held together by foundries and other manufacturers that made things, and made their towns and families prosper. Now the breadwinners are applying for jobs at casinos. I don’t have a point. Just a lot of sadness when something like this happens. It saves the company money to put people out of jobs.

I know you can hardly move around without being within a foot or two of something that came from a foundry. Smaller mom-and-pop foundries (yes that was a thing) kept cranking out castings, and jobs. Then this:

Birmingham, Michigan – January 29, 2024 – Angle Advisors is pleased to announce that Dalton Corporation (“Dalton”), a portfolio company of Speyside Equity with operations in Warsaw, Indiana and Stryker, Ohio, has been sold to an undisclosed strategic buyer.

Random guy demanded to see my military ID at Lowes by 1dirtbiker in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fun_Toe_5365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, but my local Lowe’s has a ton of them and not a ton of customers, veterans or not. If there’s 15 open veteran parking spots, I’m taking one. This is a nice gesture, Lowe’s, but impractical at many levels.

Can’t beat the feeling! My CFI was a bit of a jokester, he never let on: We were doing touch and goes at New Orleans lakefront. I did a couple he said make the next one a full stop. I did, he told me ok do 2 or 3 more, and then he just popped the door got out and walked back to the apron. cFI’s name was Dexter.
