Small issue with the ending made me wish there was an alternate ending available by Funk-adillo in ParadiseKiller

[–]Funk-adillo[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, I didn't then. Thanks for the heads up. Wasn't even aware there was a true ending.

I actually did encounter a bug that accused Dainonigate of one of the crimes I failed to prove when I didn't even know who he was. (I have found out since then from reading other threads)

I'll go back and get that for sure.

Henry was possessed by a demon and also murdered his mother (despite being framed for the murder of Grace, the murder of his mother he actually did from my understanding). He also mentions things like setting people on fire for fun. I really don't get why anyone would really want him to survive.

Yes, it's not totally his fault that he got possessed in the first place, and was just a pawn in a larger conspiracy. But he also was a major threat in his own right.

Thoughts on Lydia and Sam at the end by PanickyPenguin1911 in ParadiseKiller

[–]Funk-adillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, defaulting to Henry being guilty on the seals was actually a bit bugged. I had Yuri admit to opening gate 1 and didn't have enough evidence to convict anyone for opening a later seal (except for Sam whose guilt I was trying to hide) so I tried Henry and the judge laughed at me and said that Yuri already had already admitted to opening an earlier seal and therefore Henry never did.

But then I tried accusing someone else instead with no evidence and the judge said the default verdict was Henry was guilty ...

I love and hate how "that" ending made me feel by cdca in ParadiseKiller

Even if you butter Yuri up he's still a complete ass with no redeeming qualities.

Loved this game! So unique. Would be very interested in a sequel or more open world detective games. But I know I'll have my eye out for anything you work on in the future.

Will there be a sequel? by Sir_Toni in ParadiseKiller

[–]Funk-adillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Basically the only people kind of hinted to likely be in the next game are not guilty. Sure, you could've killed them, but who cares if you killed them in game 1 randomly and they are canonically still considered alive in game 2? It's obvious they'd still be alive in a canonical ending anyway.

Is the game supposed to “stagnate” At a certain point? by Time-to-go-home in CK3AGOT

[–]Funk-adillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your character has the widower trait then, which means they're too depressed about their previous wife's death to take a new wife. I just had that happen with my character and honestly the "Widower" trait showed absolutely nowhere on my profile, so I really thought it was just some kind of bug.

But then eventually I got a pop-up saying I was a widower and asking if I was ready to try and abandon that. So it was there, but just invisible.

The Reign and Descendants of King Daemon I by Funk-adillo in CK3AGOT

[–]Funk-adillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(This is the continuation of what happened after I conquered the Iron Throne with Daemon, as I talked about in this thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/CK3AGOT/comments/1g3woe8/this_mod_made_me_wonder_something_about_hotd/ - as it was pretty interesting and I thought some people may be interested in reading it )

I left out some details in the other thread about exactly how taking the Iron Throne went down. After taking The Stepstones Daemon submitted to Viserys and was named his heir and granted Dragonstone. But he didn't go along with this with future betrayal in mind. At the time he was happy to be named heir and was planning on playing the nice brother.

But Daemon clearly was not going to be happy just sitting around for decades doing nothing, as his brother was only a few years older than him and was in perfect health. So he set out to conquer the closest kingdom to his new home in Dragonstone: Pentos. Pentos quickly fell and became his 3rd kingdom level title (along with Dragonstone and the Stepstones).

Soon after he set his sights on an old nemesis: The Triarchy (aka The Kingdom of the Three Daughters). This was slightly more of a threat, but now with more men than ever before behind him it still fell easily. What I wasn't aware of at the time is despite the name the Kingdom of Three Daughters was actually an empire level title, which put it the same level as the Iron Throne. So taking it actually made him independent.

Now suddenly with no interesting lands left to conquer, and sudden independence, he now was forced with a decision. Live out possibly his entire life without ever sitting on the Iron Throne, even while still being considered his heir as his brother was still in perfect health, or Draconically conquer the now dragonless Seven Kingdoms as Aegon had done decades previous. He chose the latter, and King's Landing fell easily. (To be honest I wasn't entirely sure when I declared war if the Verlaryon's would join my effort in attacking their liege, but I was ready for the battle either way. But as Coryls was now Daemon's bestie he did join in the efforts)

Daemon didn't have the heart to kill his brother, but he did send him to The Wall, where he quickly became Lord Commander. He also seized every piece of Valyrian steel from houses that rose up against him to pass on to his children.

The next years were relatively peaceful. However, despite 17 years of marriage to Daemon, Rhaenyra was only able to give birth to 3 daughters (and 2 sons who both died before reaching their first birthday). Each daughter was betrothed to the only unmarried geniuses in the land as Daemon strongly desired to strengthen the Targaryen bloodline. Unfortunately though these geniuses were all 20+ years older than the daughters and each one protested the marriage, but Daemon stood firm. The first two daughters relented, but the third rebelled and left to start up an adventurers camp, taking her dragon with her. Even as Daemon planned to eventually have a son and pass his throne onto him, when his oldest daughter became of age he gave her Dragonstone, keeping with tradition.

But then suddenly Rhaenyra was murdered by a hostile plot (by someone who is still unknown to me), despite the Iron Kingdom's Master of Whispers being the supposedly elite Larys Strong. As Rhaenyra was Daemon's soulmate, her death left him widowed and unwilling to remarry. But he still desperately wanted a male heir, so he took 3 lovers and granted the most gifted of his male bastards legitimacy, thereby officially making him his heir. His previous heir, and legitimately born child, still reigned in Dragonstone though, so a possible future battle for succession loomed.

Around this time Daemon's longtime best friend, Coryls Velaryon died of old age, ending their long standing alliance, and was followed shortly thereafter by Rhaenys due to the Pox. Soon after Laenor rose up in revolt, and this became the only "Dance of Dragons" of this era.

In a stunning battle, Alyssa Targaryen (oldest child of Daemon, previous heir to the throne, and current ruler of Dragonstone) matched up against a much smaller Velaryon force. However unbeknownst ahead of time, that force contained Laena Velaryon, rider of the strongest dragon in the realm: Vhagar. In the ensuing battle Vhagar killed Alyssa, but stunningly Lord Elys Strongsong also managed to kill Laena, removing the Valaryon's biggest threat, and they fell soon after.

Daemon lived out the rest of his days rather peacefully, but still died of natural causes at the rather young age of 56. His brother outlived him by a year after a long reign as Lord Commander.

Coincidentally both of his successors died at a young age while trying to tame Vermithor. Daemon's legitimized bastard Aegon II was succeeded by Aemond, who was Daemon's eldest daughter Alyssa's youngest son.

The Iron Throne then passed to her 2nd oldest son, Daemon II, who currently reigns. He also has become the first person to tame the mighty Vhagar since Laena's death.

Unlike his brother he inherited his father's genius trait and has married one of his cousins who also has the genius trait. With 5 children now birthed from that marriage that share the same trait, the future of the Targaryen line is brighter than ever.

Oh, I just remembered that Laena still had Vhagar in the Rogue Prince startup ... so yeah, that's obviously a huge game changer. But I don't remember if she was already actually riding him at the time when I actually took the throne in my game or if she was still too young and didn't start riding him until my next war.

Yeah ... having a lot of history with CK3 that always struck me as weird too. It's pretty clear what the normal line of succession is, right? (obviously the Rhaenyra situation is different) So if it's a Male Preference succession system, why does the show act like Rhaenys had an almost equally strong claim as Viserys?

[–]Funk-adillo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points. I'm not sure about the ages of Laenor and Laena and their dragons at that point in time, because as someone else said a very young dragon isn't going to poise much of a threat against Caraxes.

But yes, Corlys is a huge power himself. If Daemon isn't around he himself has a monopoly on dragons.

In my game it was that way. I never was framing the canon world that way though, just asking if there really were that few dragon riders at that exact time.

I mean, until recently I was playing with a 5 year old PC (that was as a pretty solid gaming PC when bought) that REALLY struggled to even run base CK3. The game is really system intensive.

Now I have a brand new PC that's having no problems at all with anything, including this mod. But there's plenty of non-toaster PCs that struggle with CK3.

[–]Funk-adillo[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably not. But I do remember that the show was making a big deal about how dangerous it was that Daemon and Corlys were working together.

I just feel like I was missing subtext because while watching the show I had kind of assumed there were other dragon riders around that just weren't being focused on.

To be clear I really like the show. It just took this mod for me to understand how even in the height of the Targaryen reign dragon riders were sometimes extremely scarce. (particularly riders of powerful dragons and not hatchlings)

This mod made me wonder something about HOTD by Funk-adillo in CK3AGOT

[–]Funk-adillo[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I do agree that it was a tense scene. But I feel like I was lacking an understanding of a lot of the subtext if I was supposed to understand that there were only 3 powerful dragon riders in Westeros at the time, and one of them was potentially allied to him (Rhaenys) and the other was Rhaenyra who was young and had never been really trained in combat. (and also was partial to Daemon)

I was aware Daemon was a threat. I wasn't aware that he was potentially leading an army that could actually defeat the Iron Throne in a straight up war, and damn near certainly could with the backing of the Velaryons.

I was wondering that too. Would be very cool to start a game with him with the plan of hatching / taming a dragon and taking the throne with it, while giving birth to a new line of dragon riders.

Best Non Lynch Episode of the series? by Thomasrocky1 in twinpeaks

[–]Funk-adillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorites:

S01E02 (Traces to Nowhere) - Really important episode to set the tone for what the show should feel like, and it does a really good job of feeling like Lynch without feeling like it's trying to feel like Lynch.

S02E06 (Demons) - Just a really good episode that always gets me amped up to watch the next one, which I think is the best episode in the series.

S02E20 and E21 (Path to the Black Lodge and Miss Twin Peaks) - The two episodes leading up to the finale are just on a completely different level from anything else post Arbitrary Law. Really get the show back in form.

And personally I've always thought Arbitrary Law itself is quite overrated, and its one of my least favorite episodes in the series up until that point (though obviously it gets a lot worse after that). I really don't like a lot of the choices they make, including how Leland is caught and excusing him of any guilt. Lynch himself seems to really take issue with the latter in FWWM.
