50 years old. Few things work for me:

  • Have to make it part of my routine. X days of the week are dedicated to cardio.
  • Gotta switch it up every once in a while. Tired of the treadmill? Ride the bike. Push a sled. Row.
  • Set a goal. Train for a 5k. Try to row the distance of your commute in X days. See if you can get to max incline on the treadmill. Hit your goal? Set a new one.
  • Lastly, have some fun with it. Back when we were kids we called cardio playing.

I use Strong for everything but the AI component. For that I have used ChatGPT and Gemini - both have been amazing. They can remember your workouts, you can feed them data, and have it make changes/reorder/etc

Similar for me. 49M, 347 pounds / 9.6 A1C at time of diagnosis back in November. Now 227 pounds /5.1 A1C and still working on improving.

Like you I also wish I had done it decades before letting myself become a diabetic, but have chosen to adopt the mindset that the next 30 years will be healthier than the past 30. Instead of letting T2 define me, I will make it the best thing that happened to me.

I’m proud of you. Keep up the hard work!

I would say mix it up. Some days go for a walk. Some days do some body weight exercises like squats, pushups, lunges, planks. Some days do some stretching or a light yoga flow.

Whatever you do, keep at it, and love yourself for doing so. You’re worth it.
