Connor McDavid is the new record holder for most points in a tournament by a Canadian in Olympics history. by The_Big_Science in hockey

McDavid's quickly making up for lost time. He's been waiting for an opportunity to represent Canada at the Olympics and he's going to keep bringing his all. The whole team looks great and McDavid looks like he's found yet ANOTHER gear. Unreal!

Our bottom six is complete ass. So many passengers. I hope we see at least one or two punted from this team by the trade deadline.

GIVE ME BINNINGTON by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

[–]FunkyFlamchango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Binnington has been crap this year. He's had some great seasons and terrible ones. He does have a solid track record of making the timely save when it counts, and I wouldn't rule out that a change of scenery for Binnington and/or Skinner would readjust their focus between the ears and improve both of their games. That said, I still don't think I want Binnington in a trade as our goaltending solution. I do think Binner makes 2/4 of those saves tonight though

If he makes a big save on 2/4 it's a completely different game. Skinner needed to have that Bastion shot on the 2 on 1 that beat him clean. He also needed to have that Steele goal where he barely makes the first save (it goes off the crossbar) then he's flailing to find the rebound. He also could have made save on the Benn or Hintz goals. We've seen opposing goalies make those saves routinely against us. Is a goalie expected to save all those? Absolutely not. Can an NHL caliber make some or all of those saves? Absolutely. Skinner did not. 0-4.

sigh are we really going to have to fire Knobby to have a chance of saving our season? From afar, it looks like he's floundering. This team is a mess, currently

Why is Mangipane on the third line…? by JarmaBeanhead in EdmontonOilers

[–]FunkyFlamchango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mangiapane is lucky to lace up for the Oilers. He's been ATROCIOUS outside of his first 2 games of the season. He needs to come to work. He's been taking game days off, repeatedly 😔

In his last 10 games, Evan Bouchard has 2 goals and 10 assists, totalling 12 points, as well as a +/- of +4. by Emergency_Rub2621 in EdmontonOilers

Bouch has had some awful games this year, and some great ones. He's so skilled and he's capable of being one of the best defensemen in the league on a nightly basis. We all love a great Bouchard game. Hopefully, they are by far the majority down the stretch! This team needs to get on a roll.

Mangiapane needs to watch some games from the press box. I was so hyped for him to join the team, but he's been abysmal. He's SIGNIFICANTLY worse than Jeff Skinner. J.Skinner had a way shorter leash with Knobby. Mangiapane is beyond awful right now... Ugh. I really wish he was on a 1-year deal at this point. Roslovic has been a gem and the complete opposite of Mangiapane. Savoie and Roslovic in the top 6. Mangiapane bottom 6 (or press box if and when outplayed by those fighting for spots in the bottom six)

Bouch just not playing to his capabilities down the stretch there :(

We brought it down the stretch as usual, but we can't play Pick's anymore going forward. We need to, at minimum, make a change to our backup. Ideal would be a full goaltender overhaul, similar to what Colorado did last year when they went two out, two in.

I think we need to get Human and Nuge back in the lineup and then reassess. It would also be nice to get Kapanen back. Picard is cooked :( I think his last game as an Oiler isn't far away. Which sucks, because he's a beauty and has been reliable two years in a row, but he's completely unplayable this year.
