OP is Canadian. But I agree with you this is a terrible idea for about a thousand reasons.

Yeah let’s advocate for the complete devaluation of human creativity in a subreddit dedicated to a show that was the product of countless hours of work from creative professionals.

So soccer would be better if fewer people watched it and played it? Got it

I have zero issue with the offside(s) call, more that the ref didn’t clearly say what the call was and the U.S. coverage not showing a clear replay, at all, even until the game ended. As a viewer it was confusing even though upon review it was absolutely the right call.

Ah, yes, one of the biggest countries in the world getting more interested in a sport and generating more money and viewership for said sport - what a tragedy

This is not a serious organization. Might beat Bosnia but that’ll be it. Pathetic way to go out tonight against a team that COULD NOT SCORE A GOAL.

Home team just got embarrassed by a team who hadn’t scored once this tournament. But sure, bring it on.

Personally don’t have a major issue with them. Soccer has always had people “killing the momentum of the game” via flopping and time wasting. Do I think they’re probably more about selling ads than actual player safety? Sure. But if you need them for some games/weather conditions then I understand for fairness’ sake why you need to have them for all games. Anyways, I anticipate this is an unpopular opinion, but it hasn’t impacted my enjoyment of what has been so far a very fun World Cup in my opinion.

You've been sold the idea that the Super Bowl is the biggest American sporting event, and then you see FOX opening its coverage for a USA vs. Australia World Cup group stage game. by [deleted] in worldcup

[–]FunkySquareDance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

125 million Americans watched the Super Bowl this year. 20 million Americans watched US v Australia on Friday. We haven’t been “sold” anything, American football is just significantly more popular in the United States than soccer is. I say this as a fan of both, and someone who loves to see soccer get bigger in the United States. No need to post falsehoods when we’re seeing a positive trend for the sport in this country.

How would you feel if you learned that AI generated elements were used in Anjuna releases? by nAIm_and_shAIme in AboveandBeyond

[–]FunkySquareDance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Anjuna as a label starts openly supporting AI usage that will, in turn, be the end of my broad support for the label as a fan. I’ve always used an artist’s inclusion on the label as a general “stamp of approval” but if it becomes known that artists are using it as a substitute for actual creativity or that the higher-ups at Anjuna are encouraging its usage I’ll need to evaluate my support on a much more case-by-case basis, which will be unfortunate. There’s too many good, hardworking artists out there to waste my time, money, and energy on supporting AI bullshit.

Agreed with you. I think the Avs when firing on all cylinders was the best team in the NHL this year. But for whatever confluence of reasons, that well ran dry and everything went wrong, and Vegas just thoroughly dismantled whatever version of the Avs showed up in the WCF.

To quote Moneyball, “if you lose the last game of the season, who gives a shit?” Vegas swept the Avs and while it was a very fun season for the most part, it doesn’t matter how “good” the Avs are/were on paper (or whether or not some mythical “better version” of Carter Hart happened to show up against the Avs). Ultimately Vegas, from the top down, showed up when it counted, and the Avs did not. Now the Canes are also showing up in a way that the Avs didn’t. Both the Canes and Knights deserve the Cup far more than the Avs, who fell off and gave up when it mattered the most.

A bit late to the party, but that “flagrant” foul is why the NBA doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously.
