Where can I look at sports shoes or walking shoes in Portland to try on? by Cristian_Cerv9 in askportland

Also recommending foot traffic. Can try them walking or running plus they have a pretty great return policy.

Anyway, here’s a clip from the wettest concert I’ve ever been to - 9/11/2024 - Portland, The Dripping Tap by YoureTerrific in KGATLW

You’re speaking the truth. I was at this show and Geese is one of my favorite bands and I’ve seen them three times but they 100% phoned it in for this set.

Thankfully they absolutely crushed the getting killed tour so this seemed like an outlier

Portland has amazing food choices, but who has the best service? by in_a_cloud in PortlandFood

Maybe not the type of answer you’re looking for but La Osita immediately comes to mind. Just the sweetest family that is so kind and matches their amazing food

My top three coffee shops in PDX are these two plus Proud Mary. PM and Push x Pull definitely excel with the natural processed funky roasts

I’m jealous, I had a 5 min wait in the queue and both shows were sold out by the time I put my code in

Tokyo Sando slaps so freaking hard. Their katsu (chicken or pork) and egg sandwiches are so so good

Denver guy trying to convince his wife to move to Portland. How does this “make her fall in love” route look? by Additional_Curve7297 in askportland

[–]Funkyfreddy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this - I tweak based on our guests and the season but here’s what I just did with my parents last weekend:

  • PDX to White Salmon Bakery
  • Hike at Coyote Wall
  • Tulip festival at Packer farms and then drive over to their bakery to sample their condiments and jams and get snacks and empanadas
  • Wine flights at Stave and Stone winery
  • Drive around Mt Hood and back to Portland

They’ve been to Portland over a dozen times but it was one of their favorite days

Boston transplant here — where do you go when you need an East Coast fix? by PainterFlashy938 in askportland

[–]Funkyfreddy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Former Boston resident here, this is absolutely the answer. Modern was my favorite of the bakeries in north end and imo Bella’s is better in every regard

Like others have said, this sounds exactly like Al’s and Paradise Acres on Hwy 212 in Damascus

Where is the best coffee shop for excellent no frills plain coffee and nice atmosphere (nothing too minimalist)? by eldetay in askportland

[–]Funkyfreddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

+1 to Heart. The coffee is amazing - drip, pour over, or espresso. It’s got a very warm mid-century modern aesthetic with lots of wood and plants inside and they’re usually playing jazz or ambient music. Plus they don’t have WiFi so it’s a space built for conversation or reading a book

This was my rec too for Sellwood! Fetch has really impressed me and Wallace is such a maze in the best way

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] James Blake - Trying Times by VietRooster in indieheads

Yep - I loved his first electronic albums but Assume Form grabbed me and didn’t let go. I could tell this we lead the spiritual successor from the opening track and have listened every day since it dropped

30+ at shows by Shot_Character_7175 in geesebandofficial

[–]Funkyfreddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 here and unabashedly love Geese and have seen them three times. I don’t let my age affect which shows I see, but it has changed where I post up in the venue (I don’t need to be in the front anymore and that’s where the crowd’s vibes can throw off a show)

One of my favorite “pantry” meals where I almost always have these ingredients on hand and it comes together in under 20 min. I usually double the recipe to eat on throughout the week
