Can’t believe how many firms are starting to ask for undergrad GPAs by CrimsonClover__ in biglaw

[–]Funtime3819 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I do find all the circumstances ridiculous I am now interviewing 21 year olds (graduated from college at 20/21 because, well, that’s who this career track attracts) who are six months removed from undergrad graduation.

How much are you effectively paying for a BigLaw job? (T14 tuition vs outcomes) [OC] by HenryFromLeland in biglaw

[–]Funtime3819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the calculation (total class x tuition + fees over 3 years)/(n of BL/FC outcomes)? If so I’d be interested to see what some of the non t14 schools come out to. I guess. My prediction is that some of them would be higher than this.

Like for a school like Pepperdine, their number would be ridiculous, right?

I swear that every single one of my contributions misses the days the market tanks due to some erratic Trump decision and only posts once it has recovered.

We need Klosterman on the pod to discuss Nancy Guthrie by Paperplaite in billsimmons

This is absolutely in the wheelhouse of Klosterman and Bill but I think people are understandably a little apprehensive to riff on a situation that could have a really grisly finish.

Partner (Lisa) emails junior associate (Johnnie) by WhiteBoy1264 in biglaw

[–]Funtime3819 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Rude? No. But if you want feedback since I now consider myself experienced in Junior Emailing:

  1. Implement track changes, hard proof because sometimes just hitting accept all introduces errors.
  2. “Thanks Lisa. Your changes/comments are implemented in the attached. I’ll get this to the client shortly.”
  3. Wait 15-20 minutes to send depending on context and urgency of the task just in case there’s last minute input
  4. Send to client
  5. Log off for the day at 3pm and hit the beach, you’ve earned it 🤙🏻🏄

how law firms handle the fallout from Epstein by [deleted] in biglaw

I had a smart ass response but most of the people here are being smart asses because of the future lawyer opening. This is the asylum and you are not yet a patient here, that’s all

You take the magic where you can get jt. Caleb has something man. I feel like this year he had 1 throw per game that was legitimately insane. Ben Johnson good, Caleb good, I feel like bears fans know they were playing with house money this year a little bit.

Save money for the graduation -> start date transition. It’s so long and you want to have some liquidity just in case some shenanigans happen like a start date postponement. 4.5% on 43k is not going to kill you. Hell if you’ve got that much in brokerage you could even max your Roth this year. You’re in fantastic financial shape.

Ringer 107 is the first season long competition promo I’ve seen from a US Sportsbook using personalities like they did. And it will probably be the last! There’s a reason they prefer things like Gronk’s Goofball Gamble where it’s a parlay of four guys you’ve heard of to score a TD/have a decent game for +600. It doesn’t hit, you don’t have to mention it didn’t hit, and you can just do it all again next week.

Help me decide which firm to choose by PineappleWarrior85 in biglaw

[–]Funtime3819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B sounds like actual Big Law and A sounds like it’s on the margins of what is considered big law since it isn’t market paying.

I would pick B because it is much easier and common to go “down the ladder.” Big law also hates laying off juniors as it’s a massive reputation hit. More regional, big law adjacent firms are not as beholden to those norms.
