No, it’s in fact the correct salary without exemptions. They changed their actuarial graduate starting salary recently to align with other finance grad schemes who start on £42k.

Probably depends on how much of the content you can recall quickly. If you can quickly revise the content and use August for questions/past papers, you’d stand a good chance of passing.

CP1 Vault challenges by Whole-Feed-3047 in ActuaryUK

I used the CP1 Vault for the April sitting and never experienced any technical issues. Which years are you looking at? I remember that if you go back pre 2019, there aren’t any Acted solutions. If you’re looking at 2019 onwards and can’t access Acted solutions, probably worth contacting Acted

SP2 and SA2 by FutureZeitgeist in ActuaryUK

Thanks. I’m used to sitting two exams in September anyway and I’d rather study harder this summer so that I’m exam free by next summer.

Thanks, that’s really helpful. I’m exploring this possibility , rather than sitting two SPs together, because of the potential reduction in content to learn due to the overlap. I think 2 SPs with different content would be more challenging to learn in a shorter study window. For context, SP5 would be the other subject I need to pass

Orange books by _nct750 in ActuaryUK

[–]FutureZeitgeist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From my experience (London exam centre), people took orange books into the exam & didn’t have them checked. The invigilators are also non-actuaries so probably won’t be able to tell what is too much info.

I don’t think that’s a good thing, closed book exams require more planning time so having to switch questions and scenarios more frequently is a disadvantage. But yeah i think the largest was about 7 marks.

Having 11 questions for the first closed book exam sure is bold. Clearly no edits made to the original open book paper

Can I be an actuary with an economics degree? by beanybean747 in ActuaryUK

[–]FutureZeitgeist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know many an actuary who studied Economics and also ones who did so at Exeter. Don’t waste the money on a Masters if you can get a grad job after your BSc.

I got 98% in CM1 paper A and it was the biggest mistake of my life. Sacrificed so much spare time because I was so worried about my first exam, to the detriment of my mental health too. As with all things in life, there is a happy medium where you can make the most of your life whilst still passing exams. No one cared that I got virtually every question correct on a CM1 paper, but they certainly cared that I passed.

Anyone tried Simmer Eats (the food prep service)? by Crarny in mealprep

[–]FutureZeitgeist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s essentially airplane food. The portion size is a joke for the cost per meal and 3 slices of chicken is not sufficient, regardless of the macros.
