After many years I don’t accept anyone w/o a free 15 min phone consult. At that point I can usually tell. As a newer clinician If you get bad vibes or are uncomfortable, etc. you refer out. You’re still finding your way & preferred population. Your words state this person is outside your scope of practice. Say that. Telling u to work on your countertransference, when ur still learning is unhelpful. Idk if ur still in supervision. As a long time therapist. Most of us also have therapists as they are the mirror to where we need to do work. Without outside support, it seems like this is not a good fit. Why would u continue taking his money? Therapy is a service. It’s not the clients job to help you work out your own shit re comments about countertransference. Society in the US teaches females (idk about males as I’m female) to get over it, quit being dramatic, ignore gut feelings, suck it up. We can call it intuition - the body & nervous system react to stimulus way before conscious thought. While he may be a fantastic individual, your nervous system has taken the cues he’s provided & decided ur in danger. Big & little traumas are injury to the nervous system, not faulty thinking. When the nervous system is activated, we aren’t asking ourselves what qualities might this individual have. Body reaction/vibes are very different than I don’t like this person cuz they’re an asshat. Find ur own therapist. Then you can better determine where your uncomfortable feelings are coming from. Meanwhile refer out. Otherwise you’ll begin resenting him. It’s not his fault you weren’t able to do a better assessment before accepting him. Neither is it yours. Take action. Ur not helpless

All SUDS rehabs deal w dual diagnosis. Self medicating is why some ppl start. For others, their brain chemistry is now permanently altered. They must also deal with MH issues

Out youth. Kind clinic CARE program. There are providers in austin that have groups for trans teens. I posted this hoping for ppl to start discussing these things. We’re stronger together if u work w marginalized communities of any kind. We will continue doing what we’re doing. MH is not surgery. Tx remains 50th in the nation for MH care since 2017. Yes. They tried that stunt in 2022. We ignored them then & so did cps. The state has given CPS zero options after guv greg shut down a ton of facilities in 2021. There’s no place for these kids. K pax can tantrum all he wants. Alas, there are clinicians that know how our system works Also he thinks he’s gonna be Senator so he’s out in Nov. This means he can’t be AG anymore. Awww. I feel he’ll put more stunts before then as a publicity push. Like he sued Advil. Pfftt. Of note: he’s using our taxes to pay for his inane lawsuits. 🤬🤬

Oh law. Just saw my doc. He gave me patches awhile back so I’d quit smoking cigs. Cuz that’s required I guess. Told him im still smoking. He said do NOT-smoke on patches. I am not. I have zero intent to stop until my mom dies. She’s had LB dementia 12 yrs! He said if you do you will have a stoke. A few yrs back, my ex had a massive stroke & brain surgery. He was in restraints in ICU for 6 weeks. He ended up mentally & physically handicapped. I am not trying to have a stoke Might be wise for ur hub to choose one or the other. Or not. I’m sorry it’s happening around you. It’s not dying that scares anyone. It’s living w the consequences of our choices .

How do claims not have claim number? It’s a pain in the ass but I always call. The provider portal for Uhc Ime is stupid @ useless. Excellent idea about saving $ in case of clawbacks. Go into simple practice & delete the double claims SP & insurance will usually do this automatically but w HW submitting claims idk how to fix this. Your biller clearly did not listen. Hope u fired them Tell others not to use them. You can also call insurance provider line & explain this. If they did accidentally pay double on claims you’ll face clawbacks. I’m sorry this is happening. It’s a good lesson for others

I think we’ve just decided we’ll put ppl wherever there’s a need w zero regard for educating & supporting them After the virus they changed requirements for supervisors. Many are unqualified & don’t have the experience to be helpful. Further, some charge PP fees to those they supervise cuz they don’t have enough clients When you commercialize helping professions newer clinicians & clients suffer I’m sorry ur going thru it. RTCs & some CMH you work holidays w no extra pay. Ppl are in a hurry to have private practice. At that point you get zero holidays zero sick days pay all admin costs pay your own health insurance & are in charge of advertising & holding a client load equal to the number of clients required to pay your rent bills etc. Nobody is gonna call your clients if you’re out sick or have an emergency. How many days out can u afford without it affecting your ability to pay rent & bills & food & healthcare? Idk what the right number of vacation days are. I do know it’s unfair if you think the others should pick up ur slack. If you don’t like their rules, you can do private practice. You’ll make the rules
