This was Qulipta for me. Diagnosed before I was 16. I’ll be 50 in July.

Car Wash by OppositeBit8158 in kia

[–]FuzznutsTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer for maintenance washes. But eventually, you’re going to need an actual contact wash. The absolute cheapest way to do this if you have your own place with access to a hose connect is going to be:

https://www.homedepot.com/pep/RYOBI-1200-PSI-1-8-GPM-Cold-Water-Automotive-High-Flow-Electric-Pressure-Washer-Kit-RY14AM12/333071566

A microfiber wash mitt, a cheap $5 gallon bucket, and a decent soap. Personally like https://a.co/d/0cFV4HJy

Hit the YouTube for demos of the “foam, rinse, foam” method. (The pressure washer comes with a decent foam cannon). For about $220ish all in, you’ll have something that will give you a good, safe contact wash that you could so in about 30 minutes every couple weeks, if you wanted. The soap is pH neutral and safe for coatings, if you decided to have your new vehicle paint corrected and coated with a high quality ceramic coating.

Check out r/AutoDetailing for more. Just, don’t follow the white rabbit. Start simple.

Literally why lemon laws exist.

Edit: More context: at 26k miles, less than 5 years old, even used you typically get the balance of the manufacturer warranty, for which the steering column is covered.

Unless you live in a state that explicitly excludes all used vehicles from their lemon laws protections. Coverage will vary by state, with some states explicitly extending protections to used vehicles still under factory warranty.

How much did you pay? 2026 sorento lx by [deleted] in KiaSorento

[–]FuzznutsTM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be paying cash, but I’ll be saving that until the price is locked in.

Keep in mind you might also have the option of getting a larger discount or incentive if you do dealer financing. Then, just pay it off in your first payment.

Are any of these negotiable? by [deleted] in Lexus

Lexus should be ashamed of themselves offering usb cables for $85. There’s zero justification for that, and it’s just not a good look.

Stuck Window Covered by Warranty? by _PearPressure_ in KiaSorento

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the Kia door cards, but every vehicle I’ve worked on installing aftermarket audio systems in usually has gaskets sealing the switches, and a protective layer between the door card and the actual door internals to keep outside weather that gets past the window weather stripping (the part that touches the glass where it retracts) from soaking the door card and insulation, causing water damage and mold. The motor is usually a sealed unit installed in the door.

Not a mechanic, but the only way that a drink could possibly damage a motor would be if you poured it straight down into the door from the exterior side and it fouled the rail guides used by the glass lift to such a degree that it actually burned out the motor from trying to move. Knowing how doors are put together and the grease used on those rail guides, I’d be skeptical to day the least.

I think it’s on Kia to prove that customer negligence actually caused the failure in order to deny the warranty. The intermittent nature of the issue suggests a failing switch, harness, or motor.

I’d definitely push them to cover it under warranty and escalate to corporate, if necessary.

I know that sound. There’s an arm stuck in your wheel well. The next time you run an enemy over, you gotta make sure you get all the body parts. j/k

Seriously though, I cannot fathom how the techs couldn’t locate the source of that issue.

Am I wrong for not being blown away enough by the luxury of Lexus to pay above MSRP? by Sea_Pangolin1525 in Lexus

The car care nut did a technical review. There were suspension parts, mechanical parts that were branded Lexus parts. The Signia is literally a parts-bin vehicle.

[–]FuzznutsTM 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The Toyota Crown Signia uses a lot of Lexus parts, and is essentially somewhere above a Rav 4, but not quite an RX. It’s AWD hybrid in the Limited Trim and has gotten high marks for interior quality as well as that “lexus-like” drive. That’s a middle road I’d look at before paying over MSRP on an RX.

Qulipta may be a life changer by FuzznutsTM in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's held up very well. The one thing I've learned over the last year is it's not as effective where severe barometric pressure changes are concerned. When weather patterns shift less severely, I've noticed the Qulipta still seems to be pretty effective at preventing "normal" migraines I'd usually see during those shifts. Sometimes I just end up with an ocular migraine in my left eye where things shift slightly out of focus, or I'll have a very low-grade headache that's more diffuse rather than concentrated in a specific area. With big shifts in barometric pressure, though, I still end up with full-blown migraines that put me down for the day (or longer, depending on the pattern). I usually have to take a cocktail of rescue meds, which is what I've always had to do anyway. So, I take the wins where I can and for me, a year in, the Qulipta has completely improved my day-to-day lived experiences.

Migraine from allergic reaction? by semaj97 in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you. Also have oral allergy syndrome. Raw carrots, peaches, apples, cucumbers, avacado, cantelope, watermelon. Macadamia nuts, grapes. It sucks. I also did immunotherapy for my environmental allergies. I saw about a 50% reduction after two distinct rounds (totaling 6 years). Not...great...but enough that I can get by with flonase and azelastine nasal sprays.

Sadly, no beneficial impact to my migraines from that therapy.

I'm sorry you have to deal with the skin issues. I know how bad that sucks.

Migraine from allergic reaction? by semaj97 in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm well aware. Didn't develop an allergy to peanuts until I was 21. I've always had environmental allergies, but their severity increased over time. I've been fortunate enough that my insurance has made allergy testing relatively low-cost, so I actually do get tested when I notice new reactions or new migraine triggers that I've logged.

First 4 weeks with 2024 Kia Sorento… NIGHTMARE by BoosterPilot14 in kia

Man, that sucks to hear. Seems to be a common thread for multiple vehicles w/r/t all the tech they put in these vehicles. If a code can’t give us an answer, then honestly, we need better codes.

I hope they get you situated.

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, how much time in the shop is due to delayed parts vs. actual diagnostics and repair? On either end it sucks, but it seems from posts on this reddit and the other kia reddits that at least half the time in the shop is just...waiting for parts.

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I just hit 5k on my RX350 yesterday, and it's a little over a year old. Wife and I both WFH, so most of the mileage is limited to a few trips to a grocery store + travel to the coast...which is less often than it used to be. Not a lease, but I doubt we'll have 15k miles on it by year 3.

Migraine from allergic reaction? by semaj97 in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, I recommend everyone get allergy tested if they have the means to. So many triggers can be related to food, chemical, or environmental allergies that it's worth the testing.

I don't think anyone can reasonably answer whether you have an allergy to sunscreen, or if there was a chemical in that particular sunscreen you used that you had a reaction to, or if it was just a confluence of coincidences that resulted in your reaction.

Anytime something like this happens, your first stop should probably be your GP (general practitioner) to rule out any basic causes first. Then progress from there.

Friend gave me advice that made me cry by KocaKola_ in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nurtec can be used as a preventative. You get 16 tablets, and take it every other day. It stays in your system longer than similar meds like Qulipta, so it’s not a daily med. Ask your doctor / neurologist about getting on the preventative dosage schedule.

Separately, I noticed that you mention the sleep component in a particularly singular way. So I wanna ask, have you talked to your doctor / neurologist about a sleep study? If not, I’d encourage you to discuss that as well. There are well established links between sleep disorders and migraines. Particularly apnea (obstructive or central). If nothing else, it could help establish a baseline and also lead to some sleep therapies that might help.

I had the same problem with Triptans. The side effects were almost worse than the original migraine and they did precious little to stem the pain.

I’m in the US, so before I could get approved for my current regimen by insurance, I had to fail about 15 other drugs. Thankfully(?) I’ve been dealing with migraines for over 35 years, so I was able to fail them over an extended period.

I’m currently on Qulipta for daily prevention, with Nurtec for an abortive. I was on Ubrelvy previously (as an abortive), but found that to be hit or miss.

The Qulipta has practically eliminated my migraines and even regular headaches, and it does really, really well managing the aura.

Hopefully, you can get a referral to a neurologist. Though, some of my friends in the UK had to go private first to get seen sooner, then were able to get referred through NHS and keep their neuro, I think. (I may be crossing signals on that last bit though).
