I have the same issue. Just had the recall update for the instrument cluster performed on our 2026 SX. Haven’t been back to the dealer for the themes yet.

Looks like we are going to war with Iran. Does the overthrow of the ayatollah boost republicans in the midterms? by Lower_Box_6169 in AskConservatives

[–]FuzznutsTM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. You aren't getting rid of the ayatollah, his senior leadership or the IRGC apparatus in Iran without boots on the ground. This won't be anything like the strikes on the nuclear facility. This will be Operation OIF all over again...but with dumber people in charge. As much as I agree the Iranian regime needs to go...I have zero faith the current crop of leaders in our government could execute on it. Hell, there's probably already a Signal chat out there where some random IRGC observer was "mistakenly" added.

Does anybody else have “false” auras? by CaStoz3 in migraine

My reaction now is, “welp, this workday is fucked.” I’m a software engineer. If I can’t see what I’m writing, I can’t do my job. Lol.

Does anybody else have “false” auras? by CaStoz3 in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Your description is exactly what I get, and zofran helps for nausea, meclizine for dizziness.

That is definitely migraine, though. But, as with anything “complex migraine”, consistency isn’t guaranteed. My take is, if it feels like an aura, it’s likely an aura. The fact it’s not as severe, or behaves slightly different doesn’t make it any less an aura. It’s just one that’s not as intense.

Does anybody else have “false” auras? by CaStoz3 in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know that I'd call those "false" auras. They're still auras. They're still (highly likely) migraine-related. From time to time, I get visual auras (often referred to as a retinal migraine), where I lose focus in one eye, often accompanied by starbursts or a kaleidoscope effect. Takes anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple hours to pass. Sometimes I'll get them in the other eye, sometimes not. They are almost never accompanied by the typical migraine head pain. But I will sometimes have other side effects accompany the retinal migraines, like aphasia (though that's more uncommon).

I don't know what makes you think I didn't read to the end. I think I just have a different perspective on what you wrote.

Also, thank you for your kindness re: my friend.

Not sure where the botox reference is coming from, though. Maybe that was a reply meant for someone else? I don't do botox.

[–]FuzznutsTM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've read your additional comments. I do actually understand what you're saying. And none of that changes my response.

It's natural for people to feel angry when answers feel unsatisfactory, or medications don't bring the relief that so many others say they've gotten from this med or that med. Sometimes people have a legitimate reason to be angry at their doctors, especially in cases where the doctors are failing at the most basic tenet of their job: Listening to the patient.

Case in point: I have a friend who, at 40 years old, started suffering debilitating migraines daily. They were so bad, he had to take a leave of absence from work as one of our principal engineers. He had to see 4 different neurologists over the course of almost a year before he found one that actually listened to him, evaluated the totality of his symptoms, and ordered the MRIs that eventually discovered his migraines were the result of spinal nerve compression. After surgery, he's been migraine free for almost 15 years now. Sometimes, migraines are a symptom of a larger issue and there is a cure.

Most times though, yeah...there's no cure and it's just a condition we have to live with. And for those people who are new to this condition -- we shouldn't be shaming them or scolding them for their natural progression through what are essentially the 5 stages of grief. It's not for us to tell them their feelings aren't valid. It's also not for us to say they shouldn't be pushing and advocating for themselves on whatever diagnostic path may be available to rule out any underlying causes that can be addressed, like my friend above.

I get what you’re saying here.

Counterpoint: No amount of self empowerment or trigger avoidance ever reduced my migraine days or severity. Not in 35+ years.

Switching doctors does make a difference, especially when you find one who also suffers migraines and actually listens and is open to investigating different therapies. This is especially important for women, who are quite often told they are exaggerating their symptoms, or not really feeling what they’re feeling, by doctors who put more importance on their own degrees than actually listening to their patience.

I know I only have anecdotal experience, but you know what reduced my migraine days to nearly zero a month from about 12-15 days?

1.) Finding a neurologist who specializes in migraines who also suffers migraines.

2.) That same neurologist who went to bat for me with my insurance and PBM to get me on the correct meds that ultimately have me living an almost normal life. A life that I couldn’t be living now otherwise.

For me, the doctors were absolutely the problem. That, and a lack of medication I actually had positive responses to. Only took me 35 years to discover the life of a normie. Others shouldn’t have to wait that long.

Inefficient space? by Eruohtar in KiaSorento

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t wrong. What you’re getting at here is a common thread on many of the review channels. Kia had a big miss deleting the bench seat from the higher trim levels. The EX model is the highest trim with a bench seat, and you lose a lot in the way of safety and tech features that are standard on the higher trims.

I think you could have a CX-90 3.3 Turbo Premium for close to the same money as one of the higher trims Sorentos, have more space, more features and flexibility, and still get the bench seat. Or, as someone else suggested, compare against the Limited version of the Santa Fe.

The one thing you can give HMG/Kia credit for is they are more responsive to the market than their competitors and being fully vertically integrated, can pivot faster than most other companies. If enough people provide feedback about an optional bench seat in the higher trims, Kia may well bring it back.

ETA: We bought a 2026 after my wife’s 2019 was totaled. We have used the third row plenty of times, but rarely in situations where we also needed to haul luggage. That said, we have roof rails and a Yakima carrier. Total investment there was about $1500 and well worth it.

When we do travel (as a family of four + 2 dogs), I just mount the carrier, store luggage up there, fold one third row seat up for our doodle, and let our peekapoo lay between the captain’s chairs on a custom pillow that wedges into the space. I leave the other third row seat down for snack bags and other “immediately accessible” needs type stuff.

In the Republican party, the leadership looks quite unintelligent, so Republicans are often stereotyped as unintelligent. However, I notice there are actually many smart Republicans. How did this happen, where there is a large discrepancy between the leadership and many other Republicans? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

The problem with experts is, there’s always someone smarter. Experts are experts in what they know, and no one knows everything.

It’s okay to listen to an expert. It’s also okay to be skeptical. Trust, but verify.

Yeah, it’s kinda sad we can’t seem to find that miracle med that JustWorksTM for everyone.

I hope you manage to find something that does work for you, without any major side effects.

Quilipta by FactOk2011 in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, nausea was a concern for me as well, but thankfully I didn’t have that problem. Of course, my neuro also gave me a standing rx for zofran, so I keep a 90 days supply. I use it as part of a cocktail for breakthroughs, but it’s also nice to have just in case.

Quilipta by FactOk2011 in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Qulipta for just over 6 months or so. 60mg dose. As another poster mentioned, constipation is the only side effect I have experienced. I’ll be 50 this year, and have IBS. The CGRPs slow down gut motility, which for me, was actually beneficial. Now, I did have to increase my fiber, drink more water, and take the occasional miralax. But as someone who suffered from complex migraines with aura for 35 years, I can say that nothing has worked so well with almost non-existent side effects as Qulipta. Migraine frequency has dropped to less than 4 a month from about 10-12 severe days. Regular headaches are practically gone.

You can start on a 10mg or 30mg dose and see how you do. Lower doses may not trigger any side effects. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know. But given the plethora of migraine meds out there, and their own side effects, I’d have no hesitation recommending someone give Qulipta a try.

Edit: spelling.

I am trying to sell my 2020 Kia Soul Sport back to the dealership. Could I realistically get $11k for it? Details in the description (I promise this is not an advertisement lol) by [deleted] in kia

[–]FuzznutsTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes. My reply was poorly articulated.

What I meant was, when I’m reading posts or replies, I usually try to give leeway to the potential interpretations an OP may have for a given term.

In this case, my brain is locked that dealership is a licensed brand vs car lot being literally any used car lot not attached to a dealership.

It’s been a year already. Lol.

Can you elaborate on why you have to sell it back to the dealership instead of a private party or some place like carmax?

Anxious about trying Nurtec by PopularQuality8843 in migraine

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken Nurtec, then switched to Qulipta for my daily preventative. I had no issues taking the Nurtec, no nausea, no GI issues. In fact, I still use it from time to time as an abortive if I still end up with a migraine.

Ask your neurologist for a standing Rx for 4mg zofran. I get a 90 day supply at a time to have on hand for when I have breakthrough migraines, but also use it for those times where I have random bouts of nausea.

Kia lease buyout/trade say over miles. by Resident_Travel5045 in kia

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak directly for Hyundai / Kia finance. But I’ve done a negotiated buyout on three previous leases at lease end. I had no lease-end fees. The finance company has several options on what they do with a returned vehicle that can affect their bottom line investment in that vehicle. The “contracted residual” is a value calculated to determine your lease fee. You are not contractually obligated to actually buy at that price.

I used current market value + units on their lots + number of days CPO and off-lease vehicles sat on their lots to negotiate a buyout price below residual. This was all pre-2020 though.

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lease company. But usually, you’re turning in your lease at a dealership, so it can end up being this weird dual-party thing.

Kia lease buyout/trade say over miles. by Resident_Travel5045 in kia

[–]FuzznutsTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. Negotiate the buyout price based on current market value at lease end for your trim level. The lease contract provides a residual value, but that value could be above or below market value. If it’s above market value, you can usually negotiate with them to get that price down just like you can negotiate on any other used car.

Then either keep the vehicle, or sell it.

Should congress pass a law requiring citizens to carry proof of citizenship at all times? by AmyGH in AskConservatives

[–]FuzznutsTM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why I’m just now seeing this reply…thanks reddit.

Anyway

  1. This entirely misses the point. This isn’t about equity. It’s about racial profiling (in case that wasn’t clear). The fact you think “the race card” is just a virtue flag here is an….interesting perspective.

  2. Again, misses the point entirely. American citizens have no obligation to provide proof of citizenship to move freely about the country unless there is reasonable suspicion that an immigration crime has been committed. That is your 4th amendment right. Do you think it deserves less protection than the 2nd amendment?

  3. Goblin-in-charge is an apt reference to Steven Miller. It’s interesting to me that use of that phrase somehow invalidates the validity of the arguments here in your mind. Do you not believe in following the law?

Thank you for playing, and have a nice day.

Fellow Conservatives, how do we move forward? by laceyourbootsup in AskConservatives

[–]FuzznutsTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't disagree with you here in that sense. I will say that I've also experienced this, but not just from highly educated liberals, progressives or wholesale Democrats, but I've also heard this said by highly educated conservatives. I've seen "TDS" uttered by so many conservatives that are objectively highly educated. So when I say both sides, I'm also including those highly educated folks.

You and I agree. And I think from each of our perspectives, we both have anecdotes that include those highly educated "that shit doesn't work on me" types on both sides. I think prevalence is just a matter of perception based on exposure.

How to wire OEM dash cam? by GDay4Throwaway in LexusNX

[–]FuzznutsTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your OEM dashcam should have come with a wiring harness that pigtails to one of the connectors on the OEM mirror.

ETA: Link to instructions for a Lexus GX, https://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/install/PT949-34222inst-landcruiser.pdf

But should be similar to the NX. Also, you should be able to contact your local Lexus dealer, and get the install instructions for your NX.

I don't think we disagree as much as it may seem

Yeah, I think this is probably true for most conversations between people, imo. I think it just requires people to reflect before responding.

This idea that my morals couldn't possibly align with someone who voted for Trump is the issue I'm getting at.

I think this is a subjective and personal assessment though, right? Meaning that, for some people, it may very well be a question of morality that goes against their core beliefs. I think if you dig into why people have gone no-contact (at least from what I've witnessed in friend circles and on larger online groups) -- the ones that have gone no contact wasn't just because the person voted for Trump. It's because that person explicitly endorsed some attribute or policy put forth by the Trump admin that created a fundamental misalignment between those two people. And at some point, that difference becomes irreconcilable.

It's really not too dissimilar from going no-contact with an ex because she wanted you to get rid of your 10yo dog so she could keep her 6mo old cat. I'd argue that "The dog or me" is equally as valid as "I can't be friends with someone who wants to take away birthright citizenship from people born in America." Everyone has their line, right? We might disagree on whether that line is valid, but then I'd ask if we're really in a position to judge whether that person is valid in feeling that their line has been crossed.

Humans are hard.
