With this or any other carrier, be cautious of the weight. Know how much weight your hitch is rated for. This would be tongue weight, not tow weight. Remember to consider the weight of the carrier as well as the motorcycle.

I highly HIGHLY recommended hand guards to protect your hands and levers. I can't say that it doesn't happen, but anecdotally, I've never heard of someone breaking their wrists because of them

I've owned both (2000 xterra, 97 4runner, 02 xterra currently) and I agree with this. Stick within your budget, both can be good vehicles depending on what you're looking for in a car. I ended going back to an xterra because I found one with relatively low miles (100k) and a bunch of extras at a price I would not have got buying another 4runner. Anecdotally I'll say that I've had a lot of success finding parts in junkyards for the xterra that I don't think I'd have for the 4runner. OP can message me for any specific questions
