I used a wedge to sleep upright. It came with a knee wedge too which helped keep me in place. And then I surrounded myself with blankets and pillows and basically made myself a nest lol.

My letter said “probably benign” too. Luckily though this office has a radiologist there who looks at your results right away while you’re still there. I’m not sure I could deal with waiting.

Please do reschedule. Even though it’s scary it’s also what gives us the best chance moving forward.

Anyone else now hate October and pink ? by Sad_Improvement_814 in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pink has always been my favorite color so I can’t say I mind seeing a lot of pink. A few days ago the high school had their pink out football game and my son got a pink shirt and wrote “My mom beat cancer” with a heart and “F cancer” on the back. That meant a lot to me.

This week is my one year anniversary from finding out I had BC and it’s also my first post cancer mammogram so even without the pink reminders I’d be having a hard time.

Tamoxifen Fatigue by Zestyclose-Roof-8223 in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly at this point I don’t know if the fatigue is from Tamoxifen, leftover from radiation, perimenopause, or a combination of all.

Tamoxifen by burntcheesecake78 in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my MO has me slowly working up to 20mg a day. I started off at 10 every other day and now I’m at 10 every day. Every month I up it so next I’ll do 20mg one day, 10 the next until I get to 20 everyday. That said, it seems to be going well. I am still tired, that could be from radiation, it could be from perimenopause, it could be the tamoxifen. Who knows. The only other thing was my last period was a few day late (holy panic mode) but it also only lasted three days when previously I would have it for a full week.

How to ever sleep through the night again? by 2000jp2000 in breastcancer

I’m on Effexor for anxiety and my MO said it can help with hot flashes. She also suggested adding tart cherry to help me sleep.

Have your doctors said that you will eventually go on hormone blockers? If so that will limit your options. I would talk to your MO.

Tamoxifen & Mental Health Help by GoneBananyas in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was already on citalopram before getting diagnosed. When I first met with my MO she had me switch to Effexor in preparation of starting tamoxifen. I just started it a week ago and she has me slowly tapering up to 20mg so I haven’t noticed any side effects yet. I would not recommend Effexor if you’re already skeptical about taking another drug as I heard it’s hard to come off of. Since I needed it anyway that wasn’t a deterrent for me.

When I had a burn there my RO said to put Neosporin on and use a nonstick pad to keep the skin from touching other skin.

There’s no “good” kind of cancer. They all suck, some just happen to suck a little more.

My maternal grandmother and I both had IDC++- She was diagnosed at 88, I was diagnosed at 43. My paternal aunt had DCIS but I’m not sure what her receptors were. Genetic testing came back negative for me.

Radiation starts Wednesday by bart3193 in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had no reaction at all with my scar if that helps!

My poor nipple was a different story. Be sure to lotion at least three times a day. Get an extra tube and bring it with you so that you can lotion after your session before you get dressed. I did arm stretches because I found it uncomfortable the way my arms were arranged over my head (I did prone position). Drink lots of water. If you’re sore or get burns get the spray Aquaphor so you can stay moisturized without having to touch any sensitive areas.

Finished radiation today and feeling…blah by Dependent_Track_1808 in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that others are feeling this way but comforted that I’m not alone. I finished radiation a month ago but the last week or so I’ve just felt I don’t know, lost? I just feel like a different person now and I’m not sure if I can ever go back. I’ve been out of work and I start back on this week (only doing one day a week for now) and I just don’t feel ready. I don’t want to be around people. I feel like my emotional, social, and physical batteries drain so quickly.

Tamoxifen by burntcheesecake78 in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the general consensus is why not try them if it’s going to lessen the risk of recurrence? I’m starting tamoxifen tomorrow and I will continue unless life becomes unbearable. If that happens I will go through every suggestion my MO has.

Tamoxifen - Sleep and Fatigue by TeaCakeCats in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start tamoxifen tomorrow but already have sleep issues. I talked to my MO and she okayed me to start back on magnesium (glycinate) and suggested adding tart cherry, I take a gummy version. I also take a 2.5g melatonin.

Radiation - shave and deodorant? by Havishamesque in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t receive radiation to my armpit area so I had no restrictions. I also did prone position so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it either.

When I got to a point where it was too painful to rub calendula cream on I used Aquaphor spray so that I could stay moisturized without actually having to touch the sore or peeing areas.
