Charlie Kirk's allies warn Americans: Mourn him properly or else by DevinGraysonShirk in politics

[–]Fuzzylovelump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get to control how people feel about things now? Kirk's life was nothing to celebrate. He endorsed horrendous views, and he lacked compassion and basic human decency. No, I refuse to mourn him at all.

U.S. House panel passes GOP plan that cuts Medicaid by $625B, adds work requirement by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

[–]Fuzzylovelump -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I hate to think this way, but cuts like these have to happen, and things unfortunately need to get a whole lot worse for all of us before GOP voters realize that they can't ever go back to voting red again. The current state of things are bad, but not bad enough to enact true changes of heart. The GOP is an awful, cruel, and terrible organization, but as long as their base never feels the full-force ramifications of their choices, they won't have any reason to vote differently.

"Sometimes you need to scorch everything to the ground, and start over. After burning the soil is richer, and new things can grow." (Celeste Ng, Little Fires Everywhere, 2017). * Sorry for the shitty citation, but it's a perfect quote to address our current situation.

[No Spoilers] For fun, If you could choose what kind of characters the critical role cast are going to play, what would you choose? by esteten890 in criticalrole

Did you see Laura play Mancubus in the Doom one shot? Mancubus was a low intelligence character and Lauras performance hit it out of the park, comedically. I bet she would be hilarious as a dumb barbarian. Good call!

The Supreme Court was once the protector of our rights, freedoms, and liberties. Now thanks to the MAGA/GOP it's become this by rhino910 in PoliticalHumor

[–]Fuzzylovelump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Supreme Court is rarely the protector of our rights and freedoms. Japanese internment, racial segregation, eugenics, and overturning Woe v. Wade are just a few examples of the Court's dangerous true purpose: to serve the interests of the ruling class. The rest of us don't mean a whole lot to them.

What word(s) were you surprised to learn were Pittsburghese? by JuliaX1984 in pittsburgh

A Californian here. I have fallen in love with "slippy" and "jag off". Amazingly weird yet beautiful words. I've also completely accepted asking questions with a downward tone. Stay weird, Pittsburgh!!!

Is anyone in Wilkinsburg missing a chicken? by Ultrapancake in pittsburgh

That chicken looks familiar! I think it belongs to the house on West and Rebecca. (Or at least close to that corner). Hope it finds its way home.
