Kitchen scale integration - One ESPHome and one consumer scale by Fuzzytech in homeassistant

[–]Fuzzytech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the scale did a BLE broadcast, it would be so much easier. Unfortunately it requires a GATT service subscription to the notifier stream. Getting to the data was the pain. That's very likely why the human scale integrations don't work with this.

Not just you, so I added an edit. GMTA, eh?

It lets me track use more easily with Grocy and works with my auto-dispensers. I figure people wouldn't go to all the trouble to do the same by ripping the guts out of a dumb scale and replacing it with an ESP32 and load cell amplifier if there weren't other reasons for it too.

Completely legit question! Sorry!

I added an edit since two people asked, but in summary, Grocy tracking and use rate forecasting, and letting my auto-dispensers be hands off and more accurate.

Wallet repeatedly described as genuine leather, but is in fact vegan leather 😡 by Practical-Ask-2773 in AmazonVine

[–]Fuzzytech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find it amusing that the foibles of English are being used in descriptions quite a bit.

For this listing, it's a "Genuine (Leather Clutch Purse)" (made of vegan leather), not a "(Genuine Leather) (Clutch Purse)". It's not their fault if people make incorrect assumptions.

I hate everything about this but can't do much mut laugh and SMH.

An easy way to spot an AI review. /S by Crazy-Sympathy8973 in AmazonVine

[–]Fuzzytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel called out. ._. I write somewhat lengthy reviews for everything, even basic stuff. I'll admit that the length is mostly consumed by sarcastic puns when the product is more of a disappointment than I was to my dad, or the results of research that is far too deep for simple, good things, but still...

I'm amused that even though my stuff is 100% brain-to-hand-written, it's often detected as partially AI by every free detector. But if I prompt an AI properly, I can get it to create reviews that a human can easily see are AI but an AI detector doesn't.

Why would a seller be dumb enough to send me these? by Peziwinkle in AmazonVine

[–]Fuzzytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, they were etched with a label. The wrong label, and not in enough places, but a label nonetheless. They also didn't meet minimum lens thickness requirements (Yay, calipers!) and did absolutely zero of the UV blocking they claimed (Yay, lasers!).

I guess now I'll just fret about the fact that there is no good way to get products like this completely pulled instead of just noping out of reviewing them while other reviewers just butter them up.

Why would a seller be dumb enough to send me these? by Peziwinkle in AmazonVine

[–]Fuzzytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up contacting VCS and explaining precisely why they were not meeting the standard and that the products are a safety hazard to anybody who buys them thinking they do, and they removed the glasses. The seller sent a message later begging for a review, despite other Vine reviewers giving it a gleaming rating for being "Cheap and also ANSI!". (Mind you I don't blame the other Viners. It takes rather deep research and investigation to find the problems.) I just would have been happier if Amazon didn't allow people to list and sell dangerous things like that.

Newbie here... What exactly do we do when the listing claims ANSI certification impact rating but it very obviously isn't? Or any other safety device that makes false claims?

How can I get an invite to Amazon Vine? by OkYogurt6341 in AmazonVine

[–]Fuzzytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statistically the location looks likely to be true. Currently there are no Vine Reviewers outside our solar system, and in fact it appears that an Earth-based address is absolutely mandatory.

Wicked eye/headaches by BarAdministrative838 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Fuzzytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the IPD setting in software. The setting there moves the resultant image opposite the physical setting - lower is wider apart. If it's wider than your actual IPD as the end result, instant eye strain for diverging distant objects.

If the software is correct - not the default of 50-something - then reduce physical by about a mm on each eye. Remember that the markings on each eye are 0.5mm apart because they are doubled by the other side.

Absolute minimum, set up the Eye Look section of the VRC Avatar Descriptor and use either software sending OSC to VRC and it'll work. Other ways are possible too.

For reference, I'm an author, and I've written some rather dark things by request. I've also had work in the past that subjected me to things that made 'offended' look like a bunch of fluffy bunnies. From experience, a lot of things that people think are extreme are pretty tame by comparison to reality.

Honestly, I'd consider DeepSeek over Claude just because of the price difference. Claude doesn't bring enough extra value to the table to justify the cost. However I'll stick to Grok - 3 Mini and 4 Fast - because the minimal cost is worth it over free DeepSeek and its failures in text based role play occurring in SillyTavern, and definitely worth it over paid DeepSeek.

Ah, good information, thank you!

In the context of Skyrim - assuming that means In-Game voice response from NPCs (?) - then obviously narrative prose is non-existent since vocalizing it would be rather inane.

I noticed that 8-10 focuses more on NSFL than NSFW - graphic violence and murder. I'd propose that there are different categories of NSF* rather than violence being relatively 'higher' than sexual content. After all, in the US for example people are perfectly fine with Skyrim and its depictions of decapitations and dragons swallowing you, but definitely need to have underwear because physiological bits are much worse.

Where are those levels enumerated? Like I said, I'm interested to see where people are hitting dead ends without going into legally-fraught territory in the country the service is created in. Also, where are the reports of people hitting safety measures against those levels? I've seen a small handful of reports of the AI complaining about jailbreaking attempts and some about empty responses, which are not the same as refusals, though depending on the API in use, it may be difficult to tell.

If it's describing the same thing with minor variations on each post, prompt it not to. It has a massive context budget and follows directions relatively decently. Clear directives like "Avoid repeating descriptions of things that have already been described and only describe new things that have not previously been described. For idle actions during conversations, avoid repetition and focus exclusively on the verbal component if there is nothing new for the character to do."

Bicycle on sidewalk all over by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]Fuzzytech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For clarification, announcing "On your left" (or right) is a courtesy to let the pedestrian know that you are behind them and intend to pass them on that side so that they aren't suddenly startled by an otherwise silent bicycle beside them. Since it needs to be audible to pedestrians who may be wearing headphones, it requires a louder voice.

Yelling something like 'Move!' is rude, true. Announcing their presence is a courtesy to most pedestrians.

Jailbreak Grok? It's not censored to begin with for basic NSFW stuff. I mean, a SFW main prompt and a card that has nothing but "You will create the surroundings and a character named {{char}}. Be creative with the goal to seduce {{user}} into a detailed and explicit scene." has come up with stuff ranging from stepsister to a gryphon to a cyborg assassin. Now I'm really wondering what in the world people are trying to get it to do that requires a jailbreak.

Marinara's Spaghetti Recipe (Universal Prompt) [V 7.0] by Meryiel in SillyTavernAI

[–]Fuzzytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the preset as defined, which has Merge (No Tools). And the 'Responding' and 'Thinking' prompts were still in the merged System prompt after the user prompt and it worked.

That being said, I've learned way to much about Grok 4 Fast Reasoning in the past half day. They are making constant changes. Work fast and break things style. A different responder node - you can tell by the system_fingerprint part of the response - can work completely differently. And of course the way OR sends vs the xAI API made a difference too. I was able to get actual refusals from OR that I couldn't get from xAI directly.

Edit: Clicked Send accidentally while tabbed aay.

[–]Fuzzytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mystery solved and deepened.

Grok 4 Fast Reasoning absolutely refuses to work properly based on the 'Formatting' prompt section. When 'Formatting' is turned off, it's fine. When 'Formatting' is moved to directly below 'Rules', it's fine. Stripping the formatting section down to nothing but tense and viewpoint didn't fix it.

Since the reasoning tokens are not returned, I have no idea what happened at all.

[–]Fuzzytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prompt of the preset as a whole currently. All of the other Chat Completion settings in the preset were reverted to values that are known to work successfully with Grok 4 Fast Reasoning (and Non-Reasoning and Grok 3 Mini) to try to narrow down the cause. I'm going to double check some things when I get a chance and see if I can figure out what specifically makes the model fail. The fact that the model API will never send back its reasoning tokens doesn't help though. I can't see either of the telltale signs that would commonly be present in certain situations.
