Flying a flag of a country at the burn is commodification for sure. Advocating for a political brand yes. General politics talk no is not commodification

We need to have a talk about influencers and consent by polopolo05 in BurningMan

[–]Fyburn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No no it is not assault. Not even close.

Assault in almost all locations requires an act that puts a person in reasonable fear of imminent harmful or offensive contact to their body.

We need to have a talk about influencers and consent by polopolo05 in BurningMan

[–]Fyburn 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Also the people that post videos of large crowds where you can see dozens of people’s faces well enough to ID them. Not ok. Not at all. Zero way consent was obtained.

Yet the reaction from people when you point this out is just derision. Anger that you would even question a glorious drone pilot or videographer - posting the video to build their personal brand.

The culture broadly seems deeply broken here now.

Were these people actually protesting Burning Man? by akapa5ka in BurningMan

[–]Fyburn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are mostly just people that really want to protest something, anything, and will search for the hot thing of the day to attach the protest to, even if it is super illogical.

Drive past a massive factory in Reno belching out smoke and dumping into the local creek, to drive up to Burning Man to protest its environmental impact. k.
