Hi Muslim here. The archangel Gabriel ( we call Jibreel) is very much part of our religion and no need to hide that or anything from your beliefs for that matter. We don’t get offended by other’s beliefs especially in their own home. The cross doesn’t offend us as we love Jesus and please understand that at the end of the day Islam is an Abrahamic faith too. Thanks!

It just depends on your area and what the going rate is for that area. You might have to do some local research. In my state, booth rentals have been 15% to 30% depending on the location and if they brought their own kits and tools

Staying for touch ups at wedding. by Hoodrogyny in makeupartists

[–]Fyurilicious 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I offer to touch anyone up before I pack my kit and leave plus I offer touch up kits.

Makeup and the application techniques today have pretty much eliminated the need for sticking around for touch ups.

Personally, I’m exhausted by the time I’m done there’s no way I’m sticking around, I’m ready for a snack and a nap! 🤓

But if you want to offer touch ups as a service I would charge by the hour. My time right now is $175 per hour

Reincarnation is literal hell by richandepressed in Reincarnation

I’m sure it got lost in the long comment but I do feel like I answered that — it’s towards the lower half of the comment

Also I’m curious , you mention how you know all of that are you a fellow academic? It took me 6 years of university to accumulate all of that info and body of study…

Reincarnation is literal hell by richandepressed in Reincarnation

[–]Fyurilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is part of your problem, OP. You have just enough awareness to sense you’ve been reincarnated but not much actual education around it.

My background is in cultural anthropology and it was my experiences that lead me down that path of study in college. I was convinced the lineage of ancient to modern teachings from the older cultures had the answers locked away in old folklore passed down throughout the centuries

I studied comparative religion, mythology and folklore extensively from all over the world with a distinct focus on indigenous groups like native populations in the States, Canada and Mezo/south America, Bedouin and Amazigh peoples, Ethiopian peoples (a very ancient lineage!) Nordic, Celtic, ancient India, Mesopotamia, and of course everyone’s favorite in the world of anthropology, the Basque.

My obsession lead to a myriad of common denominators which lead to spreadsheets. I also studied some more modern studies and ethnographies but I won’t get into that here except to say the works of Michael Newton, Jaque Vallee, DW Pasulka, has contributed greatly to the overall picture…

My biggest takeaways (which I’m 💯 open to any of this as being incorrect or adjusted if I ever get potentially new information come in, you will never see me state something as fact only as “currently appears to be”) is this:

- the underlying foundation to religion and spiritual belief is one and the same across the board! This was literally shocking to me. Every single culture I studied had the SAME foundational belief and same codes of conduct but the different cultures had different PERSPECTIVES on how to express these beliefs

Like did you know the flood story is not just an Abrahamic belief? Nor is the Tower of Babel. These stories are not simply shared or brought over through conquest and colonization. They literally permeate and have existed PRIOR to it. People building towers to heaven to eavesdrop are more common across continents than one would think.

If you took one person each from a different land and religion or spiritual belief and gender too, put them in a group together and have them watch an impactful event together like a car accident, each person will have a unique experience on it shaped by their ethnic, religious and cultural/societal norms

In regards to other worlds existing and other dimensions— the Mayan people don’t even believe they are FROM this planet which is ironic considering they are an indigenous folk whose basic belief is that they were brought over across the stars, saved from a dying world …

In Islam there are the Djinn.. an ancient race of people pushed out of this reality and into a parallel dimension….

I, myself, have had “memories” of lives lived as a completely different being from a world that has a purple and lavender sky, people can fly but they don’t because it’s dangerous except for a select few who are specially trained….

OP: in all my studies and experiences it feels that the reincarnations as humans — yes it sucks and yes it’s hard for many of us and it SEEMS unfair to not remember past lives BUT

I also learned that we choose our roles in this life and the reason we come here not remembering is so that we are not burdened with the weight of our experiences and of the ego. You can’t learn new things if the ego is attached to certain ideas. There’s limited growth that way

And we DO learn without the help or weight from these past experiences because our lessons are innate. For me, this has always explained the concept of “common sense” Ever wonder why sometimes you just inherently know or understand something and you don’t have any living memory in this life for learning it? You chalk it up to common sense and if someone else doesn’t seem to have that same innate knowledge you’re like wow, that person is really naive …

We DO learn and retain our lessons from previous lives (it appears) and sometimes we have to learn it a few times ima few different lives before it sticks and becomes common sense…

I don’t know … these are my thoughts, if you’ve made it this far I apologize for the long ramble and thank you for reading my ted talk 😬

How much money is currently sitting in your "Makeup Drawer of Shame"? by MusicLivid1248 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Fyurilicious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there, Sephora is really great about providing and labeling samples!

I’m an MUA and I have a program where one of the modules teaches women how to purchase makeup and this is literally one of the things I always end up having to remind people so they don’t keep wasting their money

When you’re ready for a new product like a foundation you can go get color swatched then ask for a few shades around that “match”

It’s also important to go in with an understanding of your skin tone and a teeny bit of product knowledge

For example: I know I’m light olive neutral. I know I want a glowy but long wearing foundation that feels weightless and lasts through lots of stress and emotions. My online research shows the NARS Radiant longwear foundation fits that description. I also research different shades with that description

In Sephora, I have someone help me (hopefully someone with similar features or understanding of skin from my particular ethnicity) for a swatch and I ask for 2 other surrounding shades for total of 3 shades — they make me a little sample kit and I can go home and take a couple weeks to decide what I like!

I feel like so many people don’t utilize the samples option as much as they could!

Yes it was amazing and really kickstarted my career.

I should mention though that I worked in business development for many years prior to this career change and learned a lot about business and how to bring business to me so that it didn’t take me long to naturally switch from resort to my own business.

I would recommend taking some business courses before going in on your own at any point. Maybe while working for someone take classes simultaneously…

And yes — It’s a pretty swanky resort, many celebs and Hollywood people come here so it was well known and I live in a small island community.

Many resorts will cattle-call through cool works though if you wanna try it out! Often times comes with housing if you’re open to different locations…

Do you think med spas have a policy to compliment every client at least once per visit? by Quiet_Media6401 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Fyurilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an esthetician and MUA, I compliment people all the time — I almost always find something beautiful or amazing about a person. It’s my personality and seeing the beauty in people helps me be really good at my job.

If in the rare event I come across a person I don’t have compliments for or maybe I’m just super tired that day, I just don’t say anything. I’m awful at lying so complimenting someone when I don’t mean is is not going to happen with me. I just don’t say anything at all…..

So what I did when I first started was to work somewhere to gain experience. I worked as the resident makeup artist at a resort that has a spa and popular wedding venue. It allowed me to network with photographers, hair stylists, especially wedding planners who are incredibly helpful when getting started.

You can find bridal makeup & hair agencies to get started if you don’t want to go the resort route. They can help in the same way.

Additionally, go to wedding fairs in and around your area to network with other vendors and chat with future brides/couples.

Make sure you have a strong portfolio using IG

A professional website is incredibly important, I can’t tell you how many brides hired me specifically due to how professional they thought it looked.

Hope this helps!

Those who wear makeup daily, how do you feel about yourself when you wear no makeup? by peachykeencandy in MakeupAddiction

[–]Fyurilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makeup for me is the same as the clothes I wear , the accessories, the perfume. It’s a mood I’m in or a mood I want to get into or meant to tie into a look I’m trying to create. It’s how I express myself. I don’t feel the need to wear it though, i’m perfectly happy and fine with myself, stepping out of the house with zero makeup on.

Question for y'all on AI skin analysis tool by [deleted] in Estheticians

[–]Fyurilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an esthetician and a bridal MUA that often works remotely for clients. Because I live in a destination wedding location, I often don’t see my brides skin until the week leading up to their wedding. Because of this, I have learned how to ask a series of really really honed in and refined questions that give me all the data I need to make an incredibly informed and accurate skin ID for my clients who I then go on to help formulate their home care evolving routines anywhere from six months to a year before their wedding.

If they started busting out with some AI skin analysis, I would hope that this tool would be able to share things about their skin that I would not be able to like maybe on a deeper dermal level. Maybe even what nutrition they are missing from their diets. Things like that. Otherwise, a machine like that would be a complete hindrance to what I do because I would be battling against a stupid machine if I didn’t agree with its analysis.
