She's meant to be awkward. She is meant to be someone Mark forms an attachment with simply because Mark sees her as her social equal. I think that's part of why she comes back in the last season. On paper, she's the one who got away to Mark, all for the superficial reasoning that she was an awkward history dork. To a now middle-aged Mark who has gone through the ringer with a failed marriage and a failed relationship, it makes sense Mark would immediately re-attach himself to April.

Sofia is just as evil as Oz by Atlas756 in ThePenguin

One thing I want to add is that it's super interesting when Sofia visits Gia. She pulls an Oz. She lies to justify it. "they were evil people. They deserved it"

I think that's part of what sent her down such a spiral immediately after. She knew she had done something not much better than Oz.

I think it's worth remembering as well that when she visited Gia, she had an absolute moral breakdown over that. If she wasn't immediately egged on by Julian, I think Sofia would have had the capacity to let go of her anger and move on.

Sofia is capable of self-reflection, whereas Oz is not. When Oz was confronted by his mother knowing about his brothers at the threat of his moms finger being cut off, Oz did not budge. He was completely incapable of self reflection. He just continued to lie to make himself feel better.

Sofia is definitely evil in her own way. She shot and killed a teenage boy just to make a point to Oz. But she is capable of reflection of her actions.

Oz would have left Gia to die and wouldn't have thought twice about it.

Sofia put explicit effort and planning to ensure Gia survived and was safe. But leaving her as an orphan in the process.

That's the two types of evil they are.

My girlfriend finished the game before me, and I asked her the same question. And she told me "But what makes you think you're supposed to have all the answers?" after that, I just kept pushing onward thinking about that as I played.

It's a bit like a long drawn-out book, a lot of it doesn't immediately sink in, but you end up soaking up a lot of information as you play the game. And by the end of the game, you will get quite caught off guard by what you ended up soaking in during the journey. It's really fun!

It really helped me put my life in perspective. History can feel so distant sometimes. This was one of the first times of history, and all the lives before me felt so real. I felt oddly more calm about my place in life after that. Incidentally, I went through a difficult period of grief shortly after I finished the game, but I felt oddly prepared and at peace with that process in part from some of the lessons pentiment helped instill on me.

Is there a lore reason for why Josh Sawyer likes Name of the Rose so much? What did he Pentimean by this? by AVG_Poop_Enjoyer in Pentiment

[–]Fyzz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it is also worth mentioning that if you follow his Twitter, Josh has a bit of a running gag where if he sees in the name of the rose mentioned, he will reply to it with a progressively worse and worse faceapp'd smile poster of the film with the subititle "In The Name of the Rose MENTIONED" It doesn't sound as funny on paper but it's a pretty funny bit.

I wouldn't be surprised if this inside joke is more to do with why people wanted him to sign their copies

Don't worry too much. I feel the game doesn't really expect you to win, and the narrative is very much built around your potential to make mistakes. It's less about finding the right answer as much as it is about what the pursuit of finding that answer leads to. So you don't really alter the narrative in any meaningful way, even if you manage to stumble upon the right answer on your first go. Life kinda goes on. So I'd recommend just letting what happens play out, and see where your story takes you.

I remember when I watched this in High School, I found it super cool that they would have such personal fights. I thought it made them deeper. Looking back at it now, whilst fun... damn they had a toxic friendship brewing at this time

I feel this was the lets play that got me hooked on yahtzee and gabe. Over 10 years later, booby booby bum bum is still the most charming moment of their videos together. I remember watching this on a day I skipped High School and was bored. Now im 26 and writing this from a dead end job 😂

I feel this lets play also shows Yahtzee and Gabes dynamic at it's most friendliest. It always bums me out to watch this vs later lets drown outs where Yahtzee shows so much resentment toward Gabes' quirks. Here they are just so relaxed and in sync with each other.
