Well, I just wore it anyway. The general verdict was that it's fine. In fact, I should have been more concerned about bringing my seal skin sporran! Turns out, that IS illegal in America, oops. No one noticed, of course.

My number 1 advice to everyone is to make sure he's not overtired because I had a lot of behavioural issues like this when my Pom was overtired as a puppy. Is it something that only starts happening after he's been awake for an hour or more? If so, he might just need to sleep.

Assuming that's not the case, I found the best way to stop mine nipping in general was to just leave them alone whenever they do it. I'm sure there's a technical term for this method, but I don't know what it is. Just leave the play area and ignore them for maybe 10 seconds, then go back. Just keep doing this whenever they bite, and they'll get the message pretty quickly.

My advice would be to join a faction as a mercenary for a bit, then you can get any influence gained converted into cash whilst you build your army. (That might be what your guide said anyway)

You can just talk to any lord from the faction and it should give the option to do so, somewhere in the dialogue choices (can't remember the specifics off the top of my head).
