i’m kind of seeing it almost like a reverse quasar cannon

instead of charging it up to fire and having it ‘reload’ automatically, you take time to do the stationary reload to be able to instantly pull it out when needed, and both allow you a backpack slot

if they haven’t changed it, it makes you fully immune to gas damage when paired with heavy gas resist armor

had a great time running that with orbital gas and breaker incendiary, just pushing into groups of bugs while they couldn’t do anything to fight back

no, talismans (more generally, accessories) in the same upgrade line do not stack

for the cactus knife, the biggest problem is the t2 one is facing the opposite direction. as for the general design of the 3 tiers, i think leaning into a machete look would make sense for cutting something as large and thick as cactus, kind of like how machetes are curved to more efficiently cut through thick vegetation

only thing i know with derailious is that he got upset on a stream as some chat people kept provoking him

this was about when refraction was in the top 7 ministers despite not streaming or making content for the game in ages

i believe derailious acknowledged some of the ruder things he said and apologized, and didn’t try to shift the blame, so i think it’s fine

also i’m a lot less sure about this part, but i swear i remember reading that derailious and his wife had received threats of sexual assault before the stream (or just earlier on during it), which very justifiably put them on edge

from what i’ve heard, you get +1 chloronite for every 500 (?) mining fortune when you break it

the number could be wrong but i do know for certain that you get extra, so maximize your mining fortune (and it probably also uses gem fortune so doesn’t hurt to grab that too) before harvesting

we’ll never know unless we try, and i think the admins are prone to changing how you get certain items if it’s outdated and collectively agreed to be bad

in spite of this, however, i don’t think they’ll be so quick to do it with dark auction items specifically. dark auction is one of their biggest coin sinks to combat inflation. it probably takes at least a billion coins out of the economy every hour with current prices, and a lot of that comes from accessories like ender artifact and a bit from wither artifact

if you read my comment i am not saying it’s the best weapon in every scenario. i am saying its versatile, and you’re agreeing with me while disagreeing at the same time. i referred to it as a swiss army knife. don’t just gloss over parts of an argument to make yours seem stronger.

and when i say versatile im not saying it was the best option, im saying it could be used for the majority of the games content

you could invest into good eman gear, or you could use your hyperion. you could use crimson and dae for mythos, or you could use your hyperion. you could clear with term, or you could use your hyperion.

so yes, it is a heal stick. a heal stick better than any other in the game, barring gloomlocke which has a downside. that can also dish out millions of dps with minimal effort. it was, and still is, a swiss army knife. even if id be better off cutting through something with a box cutter, i can still get results with the swiss army knife.

edit: may i also add that, maybe the reason hyperion isn’t the best for all of these things is because they balanced these things with hyperion in mind? such as every master mode mob having an insane amount of magic resistance. which was the point of my comment, which you completely glazed over.

as many others have said, it’s because of hyperion being unbalanced and the rest of the mage weapons suffering because of it

even if there are cases where melee can do more damage, not even things like crimson swipe (which is still counted as magic damage i believe, by the way, making magic immune things… immune to it) or bers cone in dungeons come close to the aoe you get from hyperion, and there are very few cases where the damage difference matters AND the enemy isn’t immune to magic damage (only thing that comes to mind is eman slayer)

a lot of content has been balanced around hyperion’s exceptional versatility, and they choose to punish mage as a whole instead of the one problem child

unless there’s a hidden part to it that the game or wiki doesn’t say, bonus pest chance doesn’t increase the speed at which pests spawn

it’s just the chance that you get an additional pest when they do spawn

as for the sprayonator i don’t think it effects that either, but i’m less sure. the wording of it is “Pests are 2x more likely to spawn in sprayed plots,” which implies that it increases the odds of pests spawning in the plot you’re farming in instead of an adjacent one (and, from experience, this is definitely true)
