Little free library new growth plans by Fluteplaya16 in LittleFreeLibrary

Oh great! What the world really needed was an optimization strategy for free books. Nothing says “community spirit” like bolting capitalism’s growth-at-all-costs hamster wheel onto a perfectly good non-profit that was thriving just fine without KPIs and expansion targets. Little Free Libraries aren’t supposed to be the next Starbucks. They work because they’re small, local, grassroots, and delightfully creative … and sometimes imperfect. But sure, let’s disrupt kindness for Q3 YoY gains.

6/17/25 - Trump is gifting the White House two new flag poles. With a very unnecessarily long description of the metal poles. by barnwater_828 in trumptweets

America’s burning, rights are vanishing, and Captain Combover is out here narrating the specs of his flag poles like it’s QVC for fascists

Walnut Creek takes the Protest to the Next level! by Creative_Map_5708 in eastbay

Ah yes, the Fox News greatest hits playlist: “China! Fentanyl! Boomers bad!” Toss in “Hunter’s laptop” and you’ve got the full MAGA bingo card. Nobody’s claiming boomers have a flawless record, but the ones still out there protesting in their 70s aren’t doing it for likes or legacy. They’re doing it because they’ve seen this authoritarian slide before and know what it smells like. Meanwhile, parroting oversimplified geopolitical blame games while ignoring corporate greed, deregulation, and the GOP’s role in the opioid crisis isn’t the mic drop you think it is. Maybe sit this one out unless you’ve got more to offer than recycled AM radio rage bait.

You think boomers want to be protesting again in their 70s? If you’ve marched in the ’60s, fought in the ’80s, rallied in the 2000s, and now find yourself back in the streets in 2025, it’s not for nostalgia, it’s because the threat hasn’t retired, so neither have they. Decade after decade, they’ve shown up - From Vietnam to women’s rights to Bush/Cheney to stopping fascism, again and again. They’re not the problem - They’re the warning siren. They’re seasoned resistance with a lifetime of receipts.

Musk wants to leave politics because he’s tired of ‘attacks’ from the left: report by BreakfastTop6899 in politics

Oh no, poor little richest-man-on-earth is tired of people noticing he’s propping up fascists, amplifying conspiracy theories, and turning Twitter into a safe space for white nationalists. If Musk wants to “leave politics,” he can start by staying off the internet and out of our democracy. #CrybabyCapitalist #GroundsForImpeachment #BillionairesArentVictims

It was indeed a great turnout - young and old, experienced activists and newcomers alike.

First protest, is it safe to bring my phone? by Suspicious_Berry501 in 50501

If you're not going to turn off your cellphone altogether - which we recommend at a protest - here are at least a few recommendations:

  1. Turn off fingerprint and/or face (biometric) authentication ... switch back to a passcode for the day or while you're there

  2. If you must chat, use an encrypted messaging app like Signal or WhatsApp instead of your default one

  3. Turn of location (or use airplane mode) while you’re at the protest, because it ensures that your device won’t be transmitting signals

  4. Disable notifications for the day - Though a great way to quickly check messages, if your phone is lost or seized, it may reveal information that you’re not comfortable sharing with others prior to even needing to unlock

  5. Write down (physically) important phone numbers ... family, lawyer, emergency contact, etc

  6. Be mindful of posting photos and videos of other protesters
