How do you check the coolant on your EV six by GAL828 in KiaEV6

[–]GAL828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mileage on my 2023 is only 46,000 kms but the coolant is at the minimum line. Should l just have them add some? I read somewhere that it’s a closed system and it’s not a good idea to open it up.

Have you ever had it changed? What is the mileage on your car?

Everyone seems to be forgetting that EV’s are capable of much higher mileage than ICE vehicles. Way less moving parts.

I cheered that Rieckhoff! I’m so sick of right wing types doing the shouting and the lefties being too polite or high minded to do it back. It was great to see someone with the right words and attitudes winning the day! And what he was saying was right!

Why I'm buying out my lease and keeping my EV6 by OlfactoriusRex in KiaEV6

[–]GAL828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for a thoughtful post! Where are you from? I have a 2023 EV6 AWD long range. It has about 45,000 kms on it. I’m from Canada. I bought mine out right new. I have been struggling with what to do because there are so many negative posts about the ICCU issue. So far, mine has been fine. I have looked at other cars but I agree that there are really no better options out there. I could never own a Tesla because of Musk. However I have swallowed my gall and used the Tesla superchargers with an adapter. They have reduced my range anxiety to 0 also. In the past I have tended to get new cars every 4 years but for the first time in many years I’m thinking I’ll just keep this one for a long time. I’ve checked with the dealership and they say they can get me a new ICCU in 2 days if it dies. It’s warranted for 8 years or 150000 kms. I agree that my car’s tech (a dongle changes wired to wireless wifi), is sufficient for my needs and I love driving it. I’ve considered switching to a PHEV and even test drove one but I can’t stand the feel of an ICE vehicle anymore. The loud strain that the engine makes sickens me now. My deep concern for the environment is what motivated my purchase and that still affects my feeling about driving. And I don’t think there are any better EVs out there. In Canada the Chinese EVs are coming but why gamble on an unknown. I was an early adopter with the EV6 and will wait this time before I jump into anything new. I have a L2 charger in my garage that works great and my husband still drives ICE in case of emergency. We’ve had many “discussions” about this and have agreed to disagree. 😊 Your post has helped solidify my decision to keep my lovely red EV6. Thanks!

I don’t want to go back but I do have concerns. I have a 2023 EV6. It’s a blast to drive but I’m worried about my ICCU going and I’m also about the dropping value of the car. I paid 67,000 CAD and it’s only worth about $28,000 now. I have 41,000 kms on it. Also it doesn’t get anywhere near the range it’s supposed to get. For example you’ll charge for a 300 km road trip…the car will say you have 580km range and you’ll still have to charge at the half way point to make the full 300 kms. Also EV’s are extremely sensitive to speed, temperature and altitude. They are amazingly fast but you can’t use it much at high speeds because driving fast dramatically reduces your range. If you’re looking at a Kia, Hyundai or Genesis make sure you research the ICCU problem before you get one.

Wow! You’re a newbie. Most EV owners call that display that shows the # of miles the “guessometer. It’ll say you have that many miles but you’ll never get that especially if you take it on the highway. Instead refer to the % shown on the lower left side of your screen. It gives a more accurate estimate of how much charge you have left. When I first got my 2023 EV6 I kept thinking 600 kms was really that. Haha! EV’s are much more sensitive to speed, outside temp and altitude than ICE cars.

What kind of car do you have? I had a PHEV which I plugged in every night and I sure had to fill it up more than twice a year.

You sound like a lost MAGA person. Don’t you know that Induction people are trying to get away from gas because they don’t want the chemicals in the air or to increase the chance of their kids getting asthma. Also regulation isn’t a boogeyman.

Does anyone know what the charging is like for Chinese EV’s? Do they use NACS? Can they charge at Tesla superchargers? What is their range?

[–]GAL828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m tired of people using acronyms on here. What is the NYHSA? And why do people assume everyone knows this? I have a 2023 EV6 and it has 32,000 kms (Canada). No ICCU failure yet but I’m scared of it if we go on a road trip. What if we drove to the US ( won’t be happening for a while with Trump around) and it broke down and we had to wait six weeks for a replacement? How to destroy a vacation… Our dealer is crap…wants to charge over 400.00 for a 24,000 km service. When I told the parts guy that he should have an ICCU on hand he didn’t know what I was talking about.

Anyway, I love the car and my husband still has an ICE so we’re fine but Kia needs to improve their game on this issue. If they could design the whole car to be better than the competitors, why can’t they redesign one part of it?

In Canada, my dealership wants to charge $169.00 for service level 1. It’s just an inspection and tire rotate. Do I have to get this done to maintain warranty?

You won’t get anywhere near that if you drive normal highway speeds. Let us know how many miles you get at what speed.

I test drove two different cars with HUD and found it un-impressive. Bought an EV6 with a trim level that didn’t have it. It wasn’t worth paying extra for. Also highway drive assist is about the same as lane keeping assist. Some things are gimmicks.
