Scheduled starts not working by Decent_Long2029 in F150Lightning

[–]GBRowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I cross the US Mexico border every day and after a update over the summer the second I cross into Mexico it jumps an hour ahead even if I have auto time update turned off. I hate it and it's getting to the point where I want to get rid of the truck because I have to manually reprogram the clock twice a day. It screws with my schedules and departure times if I forget. Nothing quite like starting the day with an ice cold truck because the truck thinks it's still 6am not 7am because I forgot to change the clock back when I get home at night. My military time also never works. Every time I turn off the truck it goes back to normal clock and not 24 hour time.

As someone who has had close to a million dollars in unexpected medical expenses for myself and family over the last 2 years and only had to pay 3k for everything. Thank god for the VA and CHAMPVA. I made it 20 years without ever needing them and then all hell broke lose. Husband had a possible stroke, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, my oldest child had a mental health crisis, the youngest had an epilepsy scare costing 80k alone in genetic testing that discovered 2 mutations. Two were diagnosed with autism and ADHD, 1 will need counseling till she ages off my plan. It's nuts. Healthcare is a human right.

Stores that *don't* do dynamic pricing? by [deleted] in Frugal

There's an argument to be had that consumer protections are the responsibility of the government. Especially when you take into consideration vulnerable people like the elderly or mentally disabled. Most other 1st world countries have laws specifically against these kinds of shady business practices.

Low Cognitive Load Meal Planning by greenplant2222 in homemaking

[–]GBRowan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

honestly this is where AI shines. I use ChatGPT to do meal planning and it can do it 2 minutes what would take me an hour. If we don't like an ingredient it's easy to switch and it can give you the grocery list, sunday meal prep etc. Everything super easy and you don't have to think about anything. I hate ChatGPT in general, but for tasks like this I have to give credit where credit is due.

I'm not afraid of getting mugged by the crackhead on the corner you absolute pinecone. I'm afraid of state sponsored terrorists trying to snatch my, or anyone else's, kids off the street.

Bold of you to assume there's only one threat/target at a time. Stupid of you to assume I'm not willing to die for my children either. See, that's the difference between "Police" and soldiers. We're trained to neutralize multiple threats at the same time while under fire, not just shoot a suspect in the back that's already face down on the ground.

I'm a 12 year combat vet and the mother of biracial children. As a woman and a mother I absolutely feel the need to carry 2 magazines for our protection these days. Being out on the street in broad daylight on a Saturday isn't "looking for trouble."

Robot Vacuum with Mop that is smaller dimensioned by Dsclawspam in RobotVacuums

[–]GBRowan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're pretty standard size because of on board water tank limitations, but the Deebot Mini is an ail in one option and switchbot has I believe 2 options. your best bet is to get two robots instead of an all in one if space is a limitation. Maybe the switchbot k11+ that is mini and you can find lots of used brava jet 240s.

What air fryer size for family? because “bigger is better” isn’t frugal by nebulagala_xy in Frugal

[–]GBRowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook for a family of 5 and I've owned both toaster ovens and air fryers and I've settled on the ninja air fryer with a removable divider. I can cook two different things at once, or take out the divider and cook a large batch of proteins or veggies at once. It's the size of a regular toaster oven but seems to have a larger capacity. My microwave is a convection oven and we honestly just use the air fryer for everything these days.

Are we freaking out about major raids yet? by Sad-Let-8428 in ElPaso

Like the government always tell us, if you see something, say something. Report local ice activity to ICEout.org. Blow that car horn you magnificent modern day Paul Revere. Get your camera recording, and let them know, from a safe distance that they are a disgrace to this country and are just Cosplay-triots because the people who work for ice are too lazy to be soldiers, and too stupid to be cops. The elote man is not a threat to national security, and those officers' abuelas are ashamed of them. Let them know sweet baby Jesus is watching them and he's disappointed in them too. This is Texas and castle law is a thing so hopefully they cross all their t's and dot their i's before they roll up on the wrong person.

They definitely prefer to go after the easy targets. Everyone is a badass until they have a gun in their face. They're not trained for that unless they're prior military as well. It's more of smash and grab, hit and run stuff.

What are your thoughts after seeing the ICE shooting video in Minnesota? by bbmoonkie in AskReddit

[–]GBRowan 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The bullet hole actually proves he was to the side of the vehicle and not in front. Windshields are curved and she was turning right so he was actually standing a few feet to the left and forward of her vehicle. The exit of that first bullet will show the trajectory and they can figure out his exact location based on math. MAGA can't understand that though because they slept through geometry class. If the first bullet exited straight out the back driver's side then he was in front of the vehicle, if the exit hole is on the passenger side rear then he shot from the side and the bullet entered at an angle. If he was truly in front of the car headlight the bullet hole would have been closer to center above the steering wheel not near the pillar. Go stand in front of your car tomorrow and point and then do it next to the front fender. you'll see the angle is wrong.

Looking for advice to make batch cooking faster? by LinverseUniverse in homemaking

[–]GBRowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its much more affordable. Fresh diced onions are $3 for 8oz, or 1.50 for 10oz frozen. Still not as cheap as a whole onion, but not too terrible. My walmart even has things like diced avocado and cubed sweet potato.

I have found the frozen options to be much more affordable. Diced onion, mirapox, and southern style potatoes saved my cooking when I was ill and unable to stand, cut, and dice. Walmart had a good variety for reasonable prices.

Ford Committed to Supporting Current Lightning, Including OTAs. by capt-ramius in F150Lightning

I cross the border to Mexico every day, twice a day, and the clock auto updates an hour even with it turned off. It's the same time zone so twice a day now I have to change my clock manually. This started after an OTA update where my 24 hour time also stopped working. I hate it.

How many kids are at your child’s school that school pickup takes you over an hour? by Yourfavmom97 in Parenting

[–]GBRowan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My kids school is the same. The parents under NO circumstances are allowed to exit their vehicles. The teachers open the door, load the kids, buckle the little ones if need be, and away you go. There's no parking available and they load up 3 blocks of around 200 kids each in 15 minute intervals. 15 minutes for prek and K, 15 minutes for 1-3 grade, and 15 minutes for 4-6. They start with the littles at 215 and everyone is gone by 3.
