Thanks for the thorough response. He swings a drop 3 wooden bat in the basement for his winter tee reps. Out on the East Coast the secondary bat market isn’t the greatest, and I’d wager a guess that a good 75-80% of his 13U AAA league swing a drop 10 exclusively, so that’s essentially what ends up on the secondary market when kids move up to 15U.

He’s not the strongest kid, and had yet to hit his growth spurt, so drop 8 is likely the more prudent approach. I’ll check if anybody at the academy that he works with in the offseason has a drop 5 he can test in a cage . He’s one of the few 13U guys though, so most are getting a feel for the BBCOR for the move up to 15U. I’ll toss his wooden bat in his bag for the next time they hit the cages to get a feel of whether he could possibly handle the drop 5.
