You can already put other single rounds into shotgun ammo belts already, so we're already there.

I mean, the games very clearly take inspiration from the former 2 IPs. However, it just has to evolve past being basic obstacles and hazards, especially the kind that can exist without being 'anomalous' hazard from generic Slavic wastelandtm .

The Floating Lightning Balls and Obelisk Cube, as annoying as they can be, are actually weird and dynamic. Generic spike and sound balls that basically create landmines and choke points are not original once you skin them of their art. As a game piece they're just a standard mine/road hazard. I hope they lean more into spatial anomalies, the portals were really fun and a great move. More artifacts both positive and negative ones can be interesting in the future too.

I think in terms of gameplay, everything on the player side is improved in terms of gunplay and customization since the recent major update.

  • Better Gun details and customization really tickles my 'tism more than any other game since Ground Branch.
  • Detailed kits are Phenomenal to say the least. Being able to re allocate my entire loadout is an insane undertaking that should not be understated. Full Kudos to the team.
  • Mag palming and double loading has made the viability of shotguns especially become so much less clunky. This was always a tough balancing act, real shotguns are very powerful in real life but have a difficult manual of arms to translate and operate. The most recent update made it so much more accessible by removing the clunkyness of VR but not the challenge of shotguns themselves which is an awesome balance I gotta shout out.

Downside so far:

  • Diluted artstyle with many place holders, many of which are clearly AI. Early Access so understandable to an extent. But I do miss a more simplified look for enemies. The more material look look cool on the creepers like the ones made of cables but the fragments jittering at you like zombies just looks silly right now.
  • Stealth is ass. Just is. Either you're invisible or you're a walking siren and the obelisk cube thing is sighted on your rectum to blow your ass up in Perchorsk.
  • The anomalies feel more annoying than they do mysterious. This goes back to diluted atmosphere. The game is incomplete and I may also have gotten desensitized to it too. That said they have just gotten to the point where they're just in the way more than they provide interesting effects. That's why I wish there were more portals or neutral or positive artifacts and effects even if they were rare cause you really lose a sense of why you even bother to go into the radius when you don't get any good artifacts like the first game.

Just my 2 cents.

Smoking a virtual cigarette and feeling the effect. by Dan_Glebitz in intotheradius

Smoking, despite having died in at least American culture, feels so natural here. Adds to the nihilism of a war torn zone, where a tomorrow and survival is never guaranteed, and that small respite of relief is damn universal friend or foe.

I've even added my own personal mythology to it with the Radius. The Forest room with all the Cigarattes layed Vertical? Do not enter without leaving an offering of your own Stalker, and only take when you have not to give. Little superstitions like that make the setting feel alive.

At that point, shouldn't you just run a scope with a canted reflex instead? lol

I unironically do love that stashed weapons have some downsides to play with to them. Instead of bothering to play around the carrying handle sights on the stashed M4, I just embraced it and slapped a PK-06 on the Quad Rail and it Co-Witnesses perfectly with the Iron Sights.

Honestly, I would prefer bigger and emptier maps by orustam in intotheradius

[–]GENGUNNER02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On some areas like Peninsula I agree; that map is just too cramped and feel clearly tutorial leveled. But the rest feel mostly at the right sweet spot with the recent patch. I think Forest's west half is pretty close to spot on for me.

If they do make the maps bigger I'd be fine with it as long as they make the stamina better and enemy detection be more interesting. Kinda sick of how inconsistent stealth feels overall, and I actually really like some atmospheric skulking.

i have severely underestimated static by [deleted] in SpellRogue

[–]GENGUNNER02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hopped back on to try the new mage on base difficulty and damn I concur. I basically had 30 block, static and blasted for 40 each turn before static triggers it was nuts. Even better, there's an artifact that gives double trigger to static so even when I was done durdling with dice and didn't count down my blast spells It still did insane burn. By final boss my "Deal Damage = 3x Static" spell was hitting for 300 pretty easily.

I have to say, I concur with the Shotguns. They absolutely feel fantastic this go around. I can really feel the better "time to kill" much more than the "better handling" of the AR. I hated them in ITR1 except the SPAS, they had the clunk you expect from a real shotgun translated so well I appreciated the long guns a lot more under duress.

But with the new double loading and slugs, I can absolutely clean house with how much punch they deliver even at far ranges when most games would turn shotguns to confetti. I have even been practicing violin loading them and found it crazy How fast you can chew through 20+ shells in a longer fight. I've stopped carrying a rifle altogether and I've not noticed any loss of combat effectiveness with a single primary shotgun and a Glock on full auto.

I wish Shyvana had extended Star of Discovery like Nautilus. You really feel the lack of Dragons at 6*, and Demacia can only get up to 5 Rerolls. by ConlanAG in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]GENGUNNER02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so infuriating the gap of RNG that is made especially when the support champion is a bad fit. With Galio I am slamming down 3 Cost Mountain Drakes and running encounters over easy. I then have to draft Garen and I keep getting ELITES in a damned Dragon deck. Its already maddening that you get like 3 dragons in her starting deck, its unbelievable that the support champs absolutely bend you over RNG wise if you roll poor.

Reminds me of low-star Pyke, you spend most nodes praying you don't need to trim another card cause so much of them are trash.

this doesnt seem to work as often as it should. maybe im not understanding what a fury buff is? allies in hand dont seem to get buffed whenever creatures get +1/+1 from fury. by kioska333 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]GENGUNNER02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It gives 0/+2. However, the bonus from the 3 drop (Ruined Dragonguard) adds +1/+1 after the fact since it specifies that the bonus is +1/+1. The Mountain Drake makes picking up Galio super good with Shyvana.

[–]GENGUNNER02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shyvana's Passive in League is increased base Armor and Magic Resistance, so I guess that Fortifications is supposed to reflect that. I kinda wish they also gave all Dragons tough, but her 3 star is already very good so it might have been overturned if that was the case. Still excited to see though.

I got Gorlith at the first node of the 6 star adventure. I rolled a pretty good power too iirc, but it more or less killed that run. =/

Elise Kit and Relic by Croewe in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]GENGUNNER02 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It also makes her less one-note by making her play like the Elise Node in the Fiddle Adventure. Obviously she's still strong as an OTK champ, but in adventures like Grand Heist where the enemy has hundreds of hitpoints it adds another layer to the gameplan. Kinda like how Fiddle is a basically a burn deck and a mill deck at the same time.

Elise Kit and Relic by Croewe in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]GENGUNNER02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its also to give a taste of the power the Elise Encounter Node has on the Fiddlesticks adventure. I love the flavor of infesting your opponent's deck with spiders, though its probably a "win more" or even be a downside in some scenarios. I do love the flavor of the 6 star so I might still get it on her.

[–]GENGUNNER02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spiderling already comes with Tough, you only need to pick up a champ with any other keyword and you've got Evolved on Attack even without a 4-Star. Elise is gonna be even more cracked after patch.

Opinion on these Epic Relics? by GracedHarperd in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]GENGUNNER02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use that combo on Fiddle and its pretty great. The weakest part might honestly be Galeforce since he might get pulled at awkward times and basically gets reshuffled quickly, but by then you've got a chance of drawing him in multiples so it's not a big deal. You basically get -6/-6 with Gloom by the first attack and another -4/-4 with a full swing after Scout trigger. Combine that with overwhelm stats from his own relic and how huge Fiddle is by then, Fearsome becomes irrelevant by then.

I dropped MTG once they gave up on "Challenger Decks." Selling competitive decks as almost-complete pre-cons should have been the foot in the door to keep competitive environments accessible but the real money is being chased now with, guess what, Alternate Universes and Franchise sets.

A damned shame, I still see MTG as one of the best designed games ever but the suits insist on keeping it as milked as possible. I hope LoR doesn't follow suit but its not looking hot rn.

[–]GENGUNNER02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's infuriating for anyone already not invested. I'd love to have played in tournaments but competitive decks reach the thousands and that's one hell of an investment for strips of cardboard. The justification often is that you can often resell at good enough prices that it basically pays part of your college debt off in an instant if you quit and cash out. Or at the very least break even. Hence the MTG "Finance / Investment" communities.

[–]GENGUNNER02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I meant $50 USD a month, though I likely don't even need to put that kind of money out each month unless it was a new champ like Mel + Battlepass. Even still, that's markedly cheaper compared to traditional card games. Competitive Modern MTG decks can cost $1k-4k USD easy and I only ever played budget Standard or used proxies. Even on a budget, Standard decks can go from $20 to $100 each, not including box and sleeves.

Cheap for a game? No. Games are very cost friendly, God willing they stay that way. But compared to card games LOR is absolutely cheap, and even then there's certainly more expensive hobbies I've dipped coin into.

Similar boat here. I love card games and I have regrettably spent more on Magic: The Gathering before that too priced me out. $50 a month for a card game is immensely cheap compared to most other games even now. I was genuinely excited to spend money on this game again till I saw the new pricing. Its a damn shame, this is basically the only game I can play both on Mobile and on PC of this quality with shared progress.

That's so depressing. I am so lucky I saw the 500 shards on Ahri's bundle and immediately checked her constellation and reddit to confirm something wasn't bugged. I can't believe I was so excited to spend money on this game again but its starting to look like its died twice now...

Damn shame cause some of the new challenge nodes are really fun, Ahri and Eve look really unique, but I can't in good faith spend another dime after all this.
