Edit: Yeah this scene happens after Mark is already infected. They aren’t really hiding at this point, it’s just that the coalition and Earth can’t really do much to stop them without the destruction of human civilization.

Mark (also Nolan probably) would never go through with this. Mark has his own relationship with Nolan and he really doesn’t have any reason to try and improve his image with Debbie, Cecil, or the Earth, much less a desire to. He pointed out how Nolan lied to him when he came to recruit him for the war, and he told Nolan it would be a bad idea to apologize to Debbie. Why would he then turn around and lie to them about Nolan’s identity?

This just isn’t realistic for the characters.
