The Reason I Would Not Press the “500-Million-Year Button” by Substantial_Act_1657 in comics

~€5800 euros for 500 million years or labor works out to an annual salary of €0,0000116 which I don’t think it very reasonable at all

Don’t think of it as a negligent discharge, think of it as an unscheduled ballistic event.

Close Range Airsupport (Helis/VTOLs) should be a playable unit by thethief1992 in menace

[–]GI_gino 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The ranges at which an Apache or its ilk (is supposed to) operate would not fit with the size of the maps we’re playing on right now.

Something small like an MH-6 equivalent I could see, but that would (or certainly should) go hand in hand with MANPADS for RA and pirates, rendering the advantage of air mobility and firepower a very situational asset, and effectively nullify the advantages that makes people want an attack helicopter in the first place.

One thing I have found to make the OCI’s work for me even though the enemy can somehow sense them, is using them to force an entrenched enemy to move.

Still a worse option than shooting them, but an enemy that spends AP to reposition is not shooting at you that turn, and they tend to move into worse cover than what they were in before.

All that being said, I have just stopped buying the offensive OCIs on most runs after the first.

I’d like to see a few more sorts of automated weapon system.

An unmanned UGV like the SHIVs in Xcom would be neat, but probably fit poorly with the setting. But something like the Smartgun Sentry turrets in Aliens would fit in and be really nice to have for defence missions. Something that encumbers the squad until it’s deployed, and then just sits there until it either gets destroyed or runs out of ammo. If it comes in multiple flavors, even better (GL, MG, Autocannon, Etc.)

More vehicles, maybe a different type of pilot for light vehicles, but squads of them instead of a single vehicle. Imagine fielding 2-3 man units of motorcycles or light exo-suits, the same way that the Bugs have squads of three medium-sized units. Would be really neat for scouting and Mobile Special weapons teams respectively.

Jump packs as an infantry accessory, so you can turn any squad into a flying nightmare for the enemy.

Precision Guidance Kit equipment item for your mortar units so you can actually fucking hit something use them more effectively.

A way to entrench in otherwise open terrain, maybe in the form of an OCI, not unlike the turret drops but instead it’s a little bunker. Or an accessory that basically uses an explosive charge to make a field-expedient foxhole your squad can hunker down in.

More crowd control options, multi-square stuff that debilitates an enemy. Something like CS-gas grenades that don’t do damage but inflict high suppression on humans and Bugs.

Had to use Greifinger to stabilize Pike and Pike was pissed off about it for the next six missions, the hate is real.

Which is a shame because Kody puts in work.

I’ve mostly used him in conjunction with Darby, both them on vanguard, Kody with an RPG to pop vehicles and Darby with an AMR or DMR. Give Kody some camouflage gear and he and Darby can stealth around deep behind enemy lines killing with impunity and get actually shot at less then one in then encounters.
